    Icon RXT's are the best "first full modular " rear leaf out there. Some people say to start off with OME Dakars.........do not do this.....take it from me who has had BOTH med and heavy dakar......waste of money. ICON rxt's should be the first entry when a person it looking for a lift because of its modularity......now....that being said.... it is a good starting point. Just like ARB who make the DAKARs......Icon makes a huge number of other products and their focus is not primarily on leaf springs.......now that also being said......the people over at Deaver, eat, breathe, live, shit, leaf springs.....that is what they do and what they specialize on. Hence their price. They know their stuff and have had years of practice to perfect their craft. RXT'S should be for the beginner/budget to mid grade person to focus more on what they want to completely do with their truck in the future. Deaver (because of the investment and price) are for the serious person who knows where they are going with the future of their vehicle.

    Please do not misunderstand, the icon RXT Leaf are some of the best ones made today. They are extremely modular, and work extremely well for their intended purpose. The aspect of my main rant was generally geared towards OME Dakars and how they absolutely 100% suck...... mainly because they were just a very small cog in a very big machine. I do recognize that icon worked extremely hard and did a lot of research to build a very stout and quality leaf spring. Think of it like this, on one side you have a Corvette, on the other side you have a Porsche 911 GT3. Both of them are cars, both of them get you from point A to point B, both of them go extremely fast and are very quick off the line. One is cheaper one is more expensive. Which one would you buy if you had the money?

    I really liked my Corvette when I had one many moons ago though... :pout:

    But let's be real... OME Dakars do suck. We literally don't sell them unless someone comes to us fists pounding that they're what they want.

    Not that I am saying that a Corvette is a bad car.........Especially the new Mid-engine generation Corvette's are giving the industry a run for their money.....That is why I am equating the ICON RXT's to a Corvette. The Deaver's would be the Porsche representation.............and the DAKARS.....well they would be Mitsubishi Eclipse

    Hi JD,

    I just updated my posting to explain why I made that statement. In part, I made the statement based on research that I did and reading through several articles and postings from a couple of years ago. I do like the Icon springs, but as I said in my edit, for the heavier build that I ended up doing, the Deavers would have been a better choice, given that Deaver states about their Stage III springs they have "9 leafs, military wrap, diamond cut ends, anti-friction pads and four piece bolt through retaining clips. 2-inch lift. Designed for bed weight of 700-1000 lbs." So Deavers are able to handle up to 1000 lbs right out of the box, and this is supported by the company in writing...this in contrast to what Icon states in writing that their springs are rated to 600 lbs. In the end though, as pointed out by others, springs are not the only factor to consider; axle and other OEM parts also come into play, which I think is important for anyone considering such mods and building-out their Tacoma.

    so im thinking with the RXT and 5100's up front on setting 4 (or whichever gives 1.5"). maybe 60lbs in bed everyday. but do tow 3500lb trailer 4-5 times a year with a WDH. should i go with option 2 for better towing? and should i go with 5125 in rear or will 5100 be fine. no off roading now, but will be moving to CO in 1.5yrs so prob will be then.

    5100s should be fine for you given that you're not asking a ton for them all of the time. For the rear shock go with the 5125. We've been down this road many a time and the 5125 allows you to capture the additional travel of the RXT without being too long that you risk collapsing the shock. The 5100 is just a bit too short.

    As for which setting to go with I personally say go Option 1. Opt 2 will put you at approx 2" over stock and leave you with about 1.5" of rear rake during your day-to-day. I say take the more compliant ride the 350 days of the year that you are unladen, and deal with a little bit of extra squat when you do tow.

    A good bump for @memario1214 I got my RXT's from him.

    DEFINITELY go with Option 1. I stuck with option 1 as long as I could. Even with a 34" spare in the bed (say 30lbs over stock), Lomax Tonneau (40lbs), OEM bed mat (30lbs), Case of recovery gear (40lbs), Aftermarket rear bumper (say 30lbs over stock), and a tote with a jack and some tools in it (say 50lbs) Option 1 was still perfect for me.

    I added an Alu Cab contour canopy shell, which is about 140lbs, and then I lost my rake. Went to option 2, gained about an inch, and now it's back to perfect. I didn't notice a difference in ride at all, but I was already a little heavy back there for option 1.

    I appreciate your help for sure.

    Seeing as I will have a decked system and some tools and other basic items, for the value, I think the icon should, and hopefully will serve me well.

    I 100% agree. The Icon setup that I have is rock solid and performs perfectly.
    The Decked drawers are a great addition. They look super strong from what videos I've seen.

    This is my current setup. I'm running the Rxt pack on stage 1 and holding a 93lb RTT plus 2 load bars. The leaf pack handled it with no problems!
