I had the same issue. Swapped bushings multiple times. Put in leaf liners. Nothing worked. Ended up taking them off. It drove me nuts.

I ended up going all stock with the suspension. All quiet now. I got tired of chasing noises and clunks with the lifts I tried. Haha.

if you dont mind getting your hands dirty id just take it all apart, lube everything with some marine grease and throw it back together!

Of course, but for a leaf pack that has less than one year of use on it, limited off roading trips, and is always pressure washed weekly if not more, I am saddened by how horrible the truck sounds. And so when I pull everything apart, spend a full day rebuilding the leaf pack, how long is the noise going to stay away for?

I've seen some examples online of where the RXT bushings have failed (they are not replaceable) and Icon warrantees the leaf pack. Waiting for Icon to chime in.

In a years time my front shocks have needed new bearings, my upper control arms have been replaced THREE times, and now these leaf packs are making noises. I'm OCD for sure, but I also don't know any other Tacoma owner that has this many issues :D

sounds like OCD for sure! haha no im kidding. Im honestly the same way. i just took mine apart before install coated every inch in grease just to prolong the inevitable. ive heard the leaf squeek complain from almost every brand (even deavers the fancy $$$ brand) thats unfortunate about the other parts.. never got any noise out of my stuff till over 150k. im at 210k now and they pop up all the time.. i just turn the music up and try to pretend i didnt hear it

I know you might be convinced that the sound is coming from the bushings (it very well may be), but give this a whirl.

my TLDR of the RXT leafs at stage 3 with adequate weight. "Firm but not stiff"

    pics to follow

its true to say that stage 3 is not going to give you the most comfortable ride if youre looking for max lift or not properly loaded down.
heres my experience story time edition.

7yrs ago i purchased the ICON stage 4 kit. its the extended travel 2.5 up front and 2.0 in rear with remote resi, UCAs and AAL pack.
At the time i was all stock no aftermarket anything or added weight. sat about level front to back. worked well for what it was. sent it as hard as i could, even got air born once.
fast forward to present day im loaded down and pretty much bottom out the leafs at any kind of bump.
The whole thing started from just a single coil front driver side snapping so i figured it might be time to get things rebuilt and upgraded all at once. mind you 7yrs of abuse. although i never saw any signs of leaking externally from the shock, they were tired and blown on the inside. the gas inside had either mixed into the wrong chamber and/or there was no gas pressure at all. since im loaded down heavy and only going to get heavier i figured i should shoot for the rxt stage 3 option and also upgrade the front coils from the 650#x13" to the 700#x14" while im at it. so ordered all the parts and set off on my journey. (oh ya live in texas and drove to cali for the rebuild)(doing a yr long truck bed camping overland thing. you can follow me on IG# dirtbagtaco) anywho i read through all 80+ pages on this thread plus other reviews and figured my best guess was to go full heavy option stage 3. found the leafs at CSP racing for 517 to the door. coils i got from wheelers offroad i think they had a deal going too so those were 200 to the door. I saw all the squeek comments from here and across all other brands as well, theres no stopping it but i figured id give it my best shot to minimize the potential for it so when they arrived i had to take them apart to install the extra leaf anyways so i just got some mobile1 top grade marine grease and coated every square inch of all contact points within the leafs, pads, and stainless steel spacers. (ill update on when my first squeek finally happens)
for icon being such a big brand theres only what like 15-20 places that are actually ICON certified to do the rebuilds. I found brockton auto in riverside CA to be my best option for timing and pricing. Clint is the Owner/operator of the show and i cant speak highly enough of this guy. he knows his shit front to back. and im pretty sure he was telling me that he grew up with most of the guys that turned icon into what it is now. i honestly hate letting others work on my stuff especially if i dont know enough about it. But he did an outstanding job even let me watch and help a bit.
for added weight current setup is camper shell. homemade decked drawers stuffed to the brim with camping and cooking supplies, large cooler, 5+gal of drinking water, sleeping platform, solar bank/solar panel, roof rack with cargo box with tools and recovery, solar shower water storage(100+lbs) back seat platform with shelving for clothes and toiletries, brute force fab front bumper, winch, and sliders. only thing left to add is a high clearance rear tube bumper with swingout.
I personally like the leveled look but i dont like it when is squats on accelerating so i was hoping for level if not just a tiny bit of forward rake.
so as soon as it was rebuilt and put on its own weight again, we measured and i believe it was like 39 3/4 up front and 40 1/4 in the back from ground to fender.(half inch max between front and back). im sitting on 16" 33s. of course things have to settle a bit and get broke in" so we drove around down a few roads and hit some roads with "dip' signs for the intersections. this is where i was shocked at how well everything preformed. these were pretty decent little dips that most cars would have to slow down for. we were taking them at 40-50mph with no problem at all probably could have dont 60-70mph. the compression down was soft and return was like butter. slicker N shit! normal city driving is fine and offroad articulation is still there. i would say after a couple weeks of use it looks to have leveled out perfectly im at 39 3/4 in the rear and 39 1/2 in front.
I would say firm but not stiff because i can still sit on the tailgate and it will compress just a bit so i know that the springs are not too stiff for the weight. (im about 220lbs)

overall Im super stoked with the whole process, the outcome, and happy to be repping ICON all the way through!

Been fighting the squeaking with mine for about a year as well. I will admit I have done a fair amount of off-roading in the mud and dust but if I recall correctly the squeaking was present before I ever took them offroad and the noise didn't necessarily get worse after. I'm 99% positive mine is coming from the bushings as well, I've had luck with fluid film as well as silicone grease spray for temporary fixes but haven't found anything more permanent.

Mine produces a creaking-like noise more than anything, it creaks when I brake, accelerate, get out of the truck, and even when I shut the door. I love the ride quality too much to change them out though, lmk if you find a solution.

I've had good luck with Chain Wax. I use it on my dirt bike chain too. Sprayed heavily between the leaf packs as best I could a few times over a week. Eventually all the creaks disappeared and haven't come back in over a year.

Ya I've always cleaned, degreased, pressure washed between the leafs and then fluid filmed after....that has worked well.

But the bushing area is where I get the creaking. Same as you.

I ordered some expensive Wurth HHS Plus spray lube. Just showed up today. Supposedly comes out like spray silicone (which I've been using PB Blaster Spray Silicone), but once it sets up it turns into more of a grease like consistency. But it does not contain silicone, so it will stay where you spray it versus dribbling everywhere.

I need to do some suspension work this weekend so I'll try it then.

I do not have a shell. If I had just the decked, I would go stage 2... Unless you keep other gear in there all the time, stage 2 seems a better option.

Thanks, I’m still torn, but the more I read, stage 3 sounds like it will have way more lift than I want.

I have stage 2 with an RSI shell. When I fully load the back with gear I wish I had the stage 3 but since that isn't all the time stage 2 works. If I was running a decked system as well as a shell I would be heavily leaning towards stage 3.

I hope in time the pack will settle more. It seems it might.....

I hope to get a shell in the near future so stage 3 will be spot on...
