RSI is about 180ish lbs, OVS 270 was 72lbs. I had an easy 3-400 additional pounds of gear in the back as well (100lbs for cooler with food/ice, tent, chairs, cots, 10 gallons of water, 5 gal propane tank, mountain bikes on the hitch rack, etc)

I run opt 3 with a smart cap and tent. sits pretty level when I head out. I was on opt 2 and with all that weight, I was level unloaded. I don't like much squat

How's the ride on option 3? I don't usually have my awning on and just run the RSI with an empty bed most of the time unless we're heading out for a weekend. Current ride on option 2 is great but I don't like the sag when we're all geared down but that's once a month at most right now.

Hello. I'm about to install my RXTs. I have Bilsten 5100s all the way around. I have a SmartCap (180#) on the rear and carry a bed mat and about 40# of gear 95% of the time. It currently has a squat, hence the new leaf springs. I'm thinking option 2 should be my route. When I go camping, I load her down with a bit, I would guess approximately +250#s, but unfortunately that is only a few times a year. When I upgrade the shocks, I'll get the 5125. I debated going with option 3, but it seems like it might be too much. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I have an approximate 1" lift in the front, it's sitting at 21.5". I'm good with a rake provided it's not too extreme, 1.5" or less. Ideally, a 1 inch rake would be the sweet spot for me.

Finally installed my Icon Rxt leaf pack, option 2, matched with some Dobinson shocks.
Before I was sitting at 20 3/4" and the leafs had negative arch. Now I'm at 24" unloaded, I tossed 300lbs of sand in the bed to help break in the leafs. My target height is 23 1/2"

Next weekend I'm installing the front lift so it won't be so raked.

The one thing I didn't like about the leaf install was the brake line bracket that had to be bent to work.
And if I used a cable clamp by itself the line is awfully close to the spring clamps and risked rubbing.
So I made 2 little brackets to hold the lines about an inch away from the leaf pack.

Hello everyone. I have spend the last few days reading from the beginning of the thread. I’m a little torn on what to do. I have a set of RTX’s I bought from a guy that are set at option 3.

About my current setup (similar to others):

Front: 6112 (older style) set at notch 3 (1.5”) in the front. (600lb spring)

Rear: 5160 with the icon AAL and my shop removed the overload leaf when it was installed.

I have the Diamondback cover, a bike rack I would like to keep on the truck at all times. I have tire chains I keep in the truck year round, tools and sand bags I would like to keep in the rear from September-May and I haul firewood and camping gear 30+ times a year.

I am a collage student and spend many of my weekends camping and getting to trailheads in the winter(mountaineering)(sand and chains are a must to make it in the snow). I do 6 round trips a year home loaded down 400-1000 lbs.

My issue is deciding between option 2 or 3 for my situation. (Just like 90% of the people on here)

I my current measurements are roughy stated below: (I’m not sure exactly because I don’t believe I measured very well in the school parking lot)

    22” in the front
    21.5” in the rear

I’m estimating with my cover bike rack, gear and sand bags I’m static at around 300ish lbs all the time.

I would like to keep the front at its current setting just for the cost of having someone bump it up. I’m not opposed to doing that. (Thinking I will have to) maybe 4 maybe 5 don’t want to go to 6 just losing down travel and the softer feel on dirt roads.

I’m thinking of going option 3 just for the future of the truck and not having to deal with this anymore but I’m worried it’s a bit high for my setup. I’m looking for around that 2” of rake all the time. But worried about hauling that 1000lbs only on setting 2. I currently can’t leave a parking lots without hitting bump stops. The aal and stock leaf are lower than stock by it self.
Last picture really shows how I’m sitting currently with no sandbags or bike rack on both for the reason that it drives like a rocket ship with them currently.
I’m 25,000 miles in on the aal and suspension setup. And with my life changes in the past year I’m doing 35,000 a year pretty easy now.

Just looking for some others input on what they think. I’m hoping to install in the next month before camping season really starts. Thinking of timbren flip kit and bumps when I install as well.

Hauling a thousand lbs sounds like stage 3 territory, but I’m still hemmin n hawin on stage 2 or 3 myself haha.
I’m told if you go stage 3, extended brake lines are a good idea.

Yes from my understanding that’s a good thing to do but not necessary. After reading almost all 1,800 replies on here it’s a mix between everyone on everything.

General consensus is just do it.

But the stages are so different from setup to setup. Changes between second gen and third but also short to long beds. Lots of die hards for all stages.

If it were my truck I'd see how option 2 does. Doesn't sound like you'll be maxed out all the time anyway.

Nahhh u don't need to replace them if you don't want. It's only if it makes you feel better. Or if you do alot of remote off-road and would just like to kill any doubt. But im running stage 3 with extended travel icons, even at full droop it's close but still not rip anything. I did bend the upper and lower brackets a bit tho just to give it as much length as possible

    Gotcha thanks.
I already ordered some, since my buddy helping with the install is super busy, I figured I’d rather have and not need.

    Too much to list
I have the stage 2 installed, have for a few thousand miles.

but still opted for extended brake lines and upgraded bump stops. I figured while I was down there, I might as well make sure I had every precaution that could be taken was taken.

I run a RTT, High rack, traction boards and 2 rotopax, plus a hi lift in the bed about 6 months of the year, off and on and the ride was been fantastic.

Don't forget carrier bearing drop, on option 2 I was getting vibrations when braking between 20-10mph.
If you go option 3 you might need axle shims too.

True but I have done some research into this and it has more to do with your u bolts not being tight enough or people doing weird crap and installing different setups to account for Tacoma lean. Changing the spring rate or pre load does change how something may handle, and how the truck reacts to torque.
