Save yourself the trouble and go option 3 now. Ask me how I know. Also make sure to change out front coils to compensate for front end weight. Bumper and winch

Definitely go option 3 IMG_0433.jpgLoaded still have about 1” to 3/4” rake. I’m not I fan of the level look. Plus rake helps with visibility over these huge hoods

OK, makes sense. Back to the workbench. My DD Stocko Taco is soon to be promoted to FunToy status. I guess I'll go to pizza cutter MT's now because the current AT's are done.

Oh cool I haven't seen much on those yet. Did you do a thread on it? How do you like it? Any issues with water getting in?

Have t done a thread but good idea. I should done one. I love it so far. No leaks to really worry about. Got recovery gear up top. Have sleep platforms (bam beds) Have totes stored underneath. Super stoked with set up. I recently did the rear seat delete and love it. Fridge in truck works out awesome. Been a fun project for sure.

I have been out of touch! You got the bam beds too! Nice! I really like those. Birch or Bamboo? You should do a thread on those too and show off the inside of the shell.

If my wife ever starts coming on trips with me I would likely get the bam beds. For now I use a fold up cot in the back and it works well enough, which lets me hang my getting old and tired legs over the edge of the cot when inside.

I purchased the birch ones. Sanded and refinished them. I’ll definitely work on a thread about them for sure. These work so well. Definitely worth it.

Travel is defined by your shocks, not the leaf springs. If you lift the rear without changing the shocks, all you have done is decreased up travel and increased down travel (assuming no added weight of course).

I did pretty much the same thing as you. Bilstein 6112/5160, Icon RXT, GFC topper, and I just got the OVS 270 LT awning, but I haven't mounted it yet. I decided on the GFC billet awning mounts, now I just need the time and motivation to install it!

I have my leaf pack on option 2 but seeing how yours looks I might change it to 3. But I only have my shocks on the 3/4 notches and I don't want to increase it. Might have too much rake for my taste. But like you, I do like some rake since I tend to load up the bed.

I have had mine since January and I think it's great! I did a little write up in this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/gfc-finally-releases-the-new-topper.778711/page-5#post-28231435

I’ve been running them for few month and love them . I’m using 5100
As far as squeaks go, I have them when I don’t spray the lithium … has anyone tried this yet. I may take mine apart and swap the pads to the stock pads off my old leaf packs . They are quite a bit thicker and rubber instead of the hard plastic that comes on the RTX springs

Out of necessity I'm going to be replacing the rear leaf springs on my 2016 sport. I'm pretty sure I'm going with RXT's and 5125 and I wondering what setting to use on the RXT's: Setting 1 or 2.

The truck is my daily driver and I'm not off roading other than my driveway and an occasional trip to a hunting, fishing or biking spot. I've got the OEM tonneau and a bed mat but I don't carry anything on a regular basis. However, it is a truck and I use it to haul stuff.
I also pull a 2,500 lbs. boat, but not far. I can launch from my house so it's mainly putting the boat in or out of the water a couple times a year. There may be an occasional tip to the boat shop, which is 30 miles away, but in my four years of boat owner ship I've only done this once.

How is the ride in setting 2 with nothing in the back? Is it to firm?
Is option 1 good enough for the occasional boat haul and carrying stuff: i.e. few hundred pounds of water softener salt, bucket load of mulch and so on.

Always looking to modify! Check out my Instagram @TacoPandaTRD
Go with Option 2. If you’re hauling anything you’ll want the extra support. You don’t want to go with Option 1 and invert the leafs because the loads are too heavy

@Danner488 - My RXT has been set at option one for over a year now but had the same debate in my head before installing them. Might move up to option 2 but run unloaded most of the time as well.

    Option one after a year:

I feel like just about everyone should go with at least option 2 unless you never haul or tow anything. In which case why’d you buy a truck? :notsure:

For your needs, sounds like Option 2 is a good bet.

I just disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt a slightly used set of RXTs as Option 2, but I'm probably going to rebuild as Option 3 now because I just picked up 700lb Eibach front springs for 6112's and I'm adding a winch, SSO hybrid slimline front bumper wings, and sliders. Already have a heavy ARE XT topper, 2X hitch mount bike rack, and the wife and I haul a ton of junk, dogs, and camping gear. The stock rear leafs are always bottoming out.
