CBI half rack with CVT tent
I placed my order for my ICON stage 9 kit. Install will be happening in just over a week. I have a CBI 10" rack with a CVT 2 person RTT. My highlift and traction boards are mounted to the rack and my fuel can will be mounted to the bed rails. Along with my camping gear and firewood, it is an extra 400lbs in the bed while I am wheelin. That is why I went with the kit that included the RXT rear setup. My hope is that I can get some guidance on the bound and rebound settings. I have never had a suspension that had these options, so any input is welcome.

I don't plan on bangin trails hard, but want to feel confident in my daily driver making it through whatever I put her through. I can't wait for the install so I can see the height difference and figure out my wheel and tire situation. I will be running the stock OR 16" wheels with 265/75/16 KO2 DTs. I already know that without the offset it will look a bit odd, but it's what I have for the moment. I landed a full set of tires for half price with warranty, so I couldn't pass it up. I will update with before and after pictures once everything is done.

    wut?

Edit: to expand on this OP, you are installing a $5k suspension kit just so you can run a tire that fits on the truck from the factory without rubbing in any condition up to and including full lock and tuck without a sway bar installed. You could accomplish everything you're asking by adding an OME or Icon Stage 1 kit with heavier leafs at 1/4 the price.

There's spending money for looks. There's spending money for high performance. Then there's spending high performance money just for looks.

One of these three doesn't make sense.

99 Percent of the people that run ridiculous kits never actually put them through the abuse they were made for, so I mean If this guy wants a stage 9 kit fuck it, its his truck his money.

IDGAF how people spend money but some people have more money than sense/understanding. I just threw it out there because OP might not even realize how little benefit a Stage 3+ provides if you're not actually wheeling hard.

    Always in process
I run my rear RXT just about full soft unloaded. With my camping set up I usually run compression about 6 clicks to the "S" side. Rebound I have about in the middle. some fine tuning is needed depending on your truck and how the weight is actually distributed, tire pressures, road conditions, etc.

It takes some playing with and will change based on driving conditions

This is how it starts :)

I know guys said you’re going overkill for what you’re gonna use these for, but hey at least now you’ll have the option of banging hard if you want to :)

I have a feeling you’ll be enticed to lol

Dang, there is already a lot of :crapstorm:in this thread already.

Let the OP spend the money the way he wants. If you piece out a kit with the UCA's, leaf pack, performance shocks w/ adjusters, you'll already be near the MSRP of the Stage 9 Kit. Getting it all from one manufacturer means manufacture support (hopefully). Helps troubleshooting and set up.

So I don't have the Stage 9 kit, but what I do have are ICON 2.5 RR shocks with CDCV front and rear and an expo leaf pack. Choose the leaf pack set up is typically done once based on the load you're carrying. With that the OP described, I assume you went with Option 3 on the Icon RXT Multi-Rate Leaf Pack.

Now for the Icon CDCV set up, they only control compression, not rebound. The CDCV is what helps me get the most out of my set up, and what dictates the setting is the speed at which you're driving the terrain and type of terrain.

These are my settings as I run them:

    Daily highway driving empty: 4
Highway driving to my camp spot with gear: 6
Carving through a windy mountain road: 6 empty, 7 to 8 with gear, also depending on how vigorous I feel.
Fire road: 3 (between 20 mph to 30 mph), or 4 (between 30 mph to 50 mph)
Some desert washes with a ton of rocks: 2 or 3 (between 5 to 15 mph)
Rock crawling: 1 (below 15 mph)

Just keep in mind how active do you want the compression to be. If you want a firmer/stiffer ride, turn the dial up higher. If you want a softer ride and more active shock travel, turn the dial lower. If you're bottoming out, increase the setting. Play with the dial, it's easy enough to turn the knob before hitting the trail or highway or even stopping mid trail to adjust.

Yeah we don’t know where he goes, future plans. Instead of buying a bunch of cheap setups and upgrading get something good right from the start.

So true. I mean I didn't NEED a truck until I bought one... then I adjusted my lifestyle to having a truck and now suddenly I really do need one, no going back :)

Totally agree! You start out with 5100s and you’re like “hey that wasn’t to hard” so then you start thinking icon or fox or king, ads are looking good , it’s a slippery slope! Plus the more experience a guy gets then you appreciate the added features of better suspension.
