If anyone cares the ID for icon shims is 7/16”. If you can find alternative shims instead of going through Icon just look for that 7/16” ID.

Not to the shims for sale. I had to order direct from icon . When I received them I simply measured them with my micrometer because i was curious for next time.

Anyone use these style clips instead of the spirolocs? I can’t find the latter anywhere but from Icon. This website says these will work for Fox and SAW, should work yeah?

Those appear to be the same clips that come with the 303 Shock Services bearing kit. Worked great for me. I'd say give them a try!

Thank you! I was a broke ass college kid when I made this write-up, I'll redo it eventually with proper tooling and a cleaner shop space lol, but lots of good information in there. Glad I could help!

I started on this tonight. Tearing the shocks down actually wasn’t bad. The spirolocks and bearings however…….

Any ideas, im stuck getting the first one out. I got it to move a bit but it’s stuck flush with the housing. It’s the lower one. I guess I’ll try to heat the piss out of it in the morning and hope it budges.

Soak in lube. Then it should cooperate. They sometimes break if they're super corroded. Avoid using heat.

Pick set + Needle nose will work well after a good cleaning, but plan to replace the spirolocks.

Done, just need nitrogen now but I’m headed to work so I’ll do it tomorrow. Overall not bad. The first night I complained about the spirolocks I was rushing and getting frustrated. Soaked in wd40 and took the time to figure out how to remove the spirolocks. Pick set and needle nose made it a breeze.

Only issues I ran into was one upper bearing misalignment spacer would not come off the bearing, it was rusted frozen. I mangled it trying to force it and did not have replacements. Thankfully @TMFF is gonna be my huckleberry and overnight me a replacement set. I have to have this thing on the road by Saturday.

Other than that, just one broken nitrogen port but my fault for overtorquing. I was able to get it out with needle nose pliers thankfully, avoided trying to drill it out. Just reused one of the old ones.

I also did the extended travel swap, which was just swapping the top out spacer for a smaller one during reassembly.

Thanks to the great instructions and tips here, everything went smoothly. I appreciate it!

And done. I should have done it yesterday but was tired and unmotivated. This thread was a huge help. While there is videos out there, most of them suck lol.

The ride is so much better with the taller heavier springs, look at the difference in preload from 13” 650 springs to 14” 700 springs! Same ride height.
