Yes you will need them, after I did my install the front end of my truck started squeaking. Came to find out that my sway bars were rubbing against the coilovers.

If they are off the truck, you will need to secure the bottom knuckle as you turn the adjusting collar with the spanner wrench. If you adjust them on your truck, it helps to lube the threads and have your front wheel/s off the ground.

like the bottom thing that the coil sits into? put some pb blaster on the threads to help turn it better

Don't stack lifts....it'll mess up the travel geometry of the shocks....just adjust the height where you like them and have 2" or more down travel (that would be 2-3" of lift).

4x4 owners be careful how far you adjust a CO. I don't know if there is any difference between adjusting fox, icons, etc but when I cranked up my toytecs from their ultimate kit it caused my CV boots to rub and blow. It was an easy fix however. I replaced the toytec kit with a RCD kit. Before and after pics of my 09 tacoma and CV boots are in my gallery with both kits.

The toytec kit said 2.5 - 3". once I went past the factory preset height is when I started to have problems with mine. I took some dealing with the dealer, but believe it or not, they covered it under warranty. I think the only reason they did was because they had a few new ones on their lot that they lifted and I pointed out to them that they were going to have the same problems.

Just make sure the cv fins aren't touching at ride height.....I've been as high as 3-3.5" and the cv's still look good.....coil overs ride smoother the lower they are anyways!

If you completely lower the Icons. How much lift will they give you?

Bottomed out they are equivalent to stock ride height. Much improved ride quality.

I'm running regular Icons on my 12' and here's my 2 cents:
•Yes you can adjust them on the truck with spanner wrench. I lubricated the threads before I adjusted them and I lifted the wheels off the ground.
•Icon states you should never have more than 2 inches of threads showing when preloading them
•due to our famous Taco lean my driver side is showing 1 3/4 thread vs my pass side which is only showing 1 1/2 inches.
•I am also running a Toytec 1/2 inch spacer on my driver side coil over to help with the Taco lean and I still have that much thread difference between driver side and pass sides
