I currently have the Bilstein 5100s front and 5125s on the rear of my 97 Tacoma 4WD. I am going to need to replace my shocks and struts, soon. I have been been looking into upgrading to the Icon's front and rear, but been looking into the Bilstein 6112's lately, since they are cheaper. But I'm sure the Icon's are worth the extra money. The front end is stock for now, but I do have an All Pro tube bumper that I am going to install, soon. I want to get a winch and possibly sliders, but don't know when that will be. I don't think that I want to go the Eibach 3" lift springs on the 5100's route to compensate for the extra weight, even though people seem to be happy with that setup. What's the difference between the Icon's and the Bilstein 6112?

Bilstein 8112/8100, JBA UCAs, Icon RXT leaf pack, work wheels 17x8.5;-10os, 285/75/17 cooper LTX AT3, Mobtown HC rear bumper and Sliders, SSO front bumper, BAMF greceased grill.
icons have the resi option up front and threaded body to adjust height/preload without disassembly, have lots of options and applications for what you want, rebuildable. 6112s uses circlips non adjustable on truck and don’t have that resi option unless you step up to 8112 coil overs, non rebuildable. Icon Usually can provide more lift than the bilsteins.

6112 are in its own category as they’re in the middle of the pack of suspension. No one offers a 60mm piston/2.65” diameter body like the 6112 in the 500-700 range. If we’re talking solely the 6112/5160 vs a stage 1 icon front coilover with no resi and rear non resi I’d rather go 6112/5160 route. Bilstein are cheaper and comes with a rear resi, but this is my opinion for what I wanted out of my truck and the suspension. Not sure what your looking to do with your truck.

I won’t talk about comfort of ride as they’re but digressive valving. I have the 6112 and I like them

Because your wanted to add weight to the truck, either system can swap out coils of your liking.

    Good luck.

Based on availability you might have to go with Icon. 6122 are on nationwide back order. I stopped by my local 4WD Parts thinking they might have a better supply due to their size and the salesman indicated a backlog of 50+ orders.

Any reason you are not considering Fox or King?

Comparing the Icon coilovers with reservoirs, King and Fox are about the same price. Also, adding weight in the future will definitely affect the shock performance. We can tune the shocks to compensate for the added weight and your driving style. If your interested in pricing, shoot us a DM or email us sales@accutuneoffroad.com

Thanks, I'm not interested in the resi's. Don't think I will need them, but might get the 5160's for the rear.

Because, they are progressive and I like how my 5100's ride being that they are digressive.
