Other forums that I'm on (mostly for software issues) have a feature that allows the OP to tag the thread as "Solved" or "Fixed" when an acceptable solution has been found for the original complaint. See attached as an example.

Adding this here would require two things - first in the search or advanced search we need to be able to have a checkbox option to "find only threads that have been solved". then we would also need to have have an icon (maybe located along with the report post, etc icons) that would trigger the "solved" to be added to the thread title.

This could help to cut down on the number of threads listed in the results of a search, overall search times, and repeat threads for identical problems. Most TWer's do seem to check back in when they have found a solution but its not readily visible or is buried in a heap of posts and easy to overlook.

Glad to hear positive feed back! So I'll rain on my own parade...
Is it even possible to do this with the TW software/setup? The other forums that have this feature are run completely different.
And the other forums are strictly help and problem solving communities. Unlike TW which is a mix of everything imaginable - how could this option only be available to relevant threads?

Anyone else have another idea or method to achieve this?

:bowdown:Many apologies for the criticism of a newbie but this has been my greatest frustration with TW. This place is a wealth of information but it seems to be reaching a breaking point. As TW grows and the amount of information here increases finding useful and accurate information will only be more difficult.

    I concur doctor.

Is there anyway that certain thigns can be "cleaned up" like duplicated posts or posts that have been dead for over a certain amount of time? "dead" would mean not even "viewed" in that time frame.

A quick google search showed up one mod (not sure what rev of vbulletin this is)

    http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=149214

I really think the largest issue (as with all vb sites and pretty much every other forum software) is that the search function more or less sucks. It's not very accurate and will pull up a ton of irrelevant info (mostly thanks to signatures) and it makes narrowing down results kinda hard. In addition to that, it's relying on everyone using the same terminology, and spelling it the same way :D
