ID that Sound!: Clicking noise from behind the steering wheel at 3 mph only after engine start.

Any insight on what this noise could be? It only occurs right after engine start when placed into drive at around 3 to 5 mph. Sound in question is right before the end of the video coming from the behind the steering wheel. 2023 TRD Off Road

Doors locking.

All I heard was the doors lock.

 

Man I wish it was that! They lock as soon as the car is placed into drive if unlocked at park. The sound is coming from just behind the steering wheel.

 

Can't hear any clicking sound.
Did you proof your recording before posting on YouTube?

 

The sound was pretty faint compared to the rest of the noises. I gave the recording another shot. The video has the truck just started and already in drive and and the doors locked, the sound only occurs at 3 mph after starting the engine.

Can't tell from the video, but there is an ABS solenoid self test that happens after you start driving, either in forward or reverse. The ABS unit on your Off Road model is on the firewall in the engine compartment behind the dash area. Most Japanese vehicles from the past 15 years do this.

EDIT: heard the videos with headphones, definitely the ABS self test.

 

Sounds like abs is kicking on

 

On a slight hill mine would do this

 

If it is abs it sounds abnormally loud but normal enough not to ignore.

 

To me it sounds like an actuator. I also have a 2023 OR and I can hear what sounds like an actuator either in reverse and or forward below or at 3mph. It only happens once after I engage the transmission.

 

Thanks everyone for the help so far! My main concern is that it is something that would need to be repaired down the road but so far it seems like it is something that goes along with the truck.

When I first start to move in mine I hear a pop …my 2009 ABS sounds more like a squish noise…

 

If you have the blower going for heat or ac in park or low rpms something also clicks under shifter everytime the idle increases to increase power for blower.

 

My 2019 has made that noise since 2019. No issues.

 

I get a little relay click when I first pull away. Don't know what it is for but it must be for a reason.

 

What’s with the violent shift from park to drive?

 

What year? I lean toward mounts or bushings 1st.
