last time i used a gas truck to tow down with it was a suberban with the vortec 454 in it and it did 75 on flat ground no problem but on the steep hills 65 was a max and it got hot(13mpgs) last time i went down i used a ford 6.0 power pile and i could go 80 up hills no problem but it never got better than 10mpgs the entire time.
my buddy towed with his brothers 5.9 cummins and got 20mpgs and the power pile couldn't keep up with him to save my life.

Brant said it would be cool if he could get the GM to let him borrow the Tundra they just built for him. Has a TRD S/C on it and full icon suspension. He said it was hard to keep the tires from spinning. haha

My grandpa has a big fifth wheel trailer he uses to haul tractors and stuff cant remember if it is long enough for two rigs though. Haha. Plus he has an F350 dually that he tows it with, but I don't think I would ask him to borrow them. Father in law also has two F250 diesels a 99 and an 08 but I wouldn't ask to borrow them either. 99 is ready to fall apart and the 08 he just got not too long ago.

yeah i would rather ask for an oil burner than the tunder i love toyota but i know what diesel power is like and i don't think a trd super charger is gonna help the milage.

BRADY! GET US A DIESEL AND A 5th WHEEL! That would be awesome to tow both our rigs down there and get 15-20 mpg. The gas cost would be like half! Also looked at moab dates and its a week after my finals so im good there.

the think about moab I like is that its super awesome fun terrain, without a massive risk of fucking up your truck.

Saving gas isn't really the reason why I want to tow. It's for if I fuck something up I can get my Taco home.

Mark, would be cool but I think he uses that stuff too often for me to be able to borrow it for a week. Haha

it doesnt hurt to ask.. i was worried about fucking shit up on my truck last time i went so i trailered it down and then wheeled the shit out of it blew up the front diff, clipped an axle shaft to free up the front end then drove that bad boy to Las Vegas and partied for a few days then drove it back to the trailer. Diesel got 10mpgs the taco got 13 doing 80 in a head wind. Im just driving it down next time and if i go 65 i get like 20MPG's

Superchargers don't hit the mileage much but I knw tundras are super good at towing without it. Either way they still have 400ft/lb torque. Supercharged its like 500hp and 600ft/lbs torque. Very impressive and a great truck.

I doubt mark will screw up his rig as I doubt he will take it down anything that would do that haha. And his truck isn't powerful enough to go fast enough to roll on a dirt road haha

I used to use a 96 dodge Cummings for work. Loved it. Was great.

Wow, I can totally see the tire in this pic on my computer. You should see it on my phone. Looks like a 20+" rim with a low profile tire on it. haha
    [IMG]

For now I will try to stick to the plan of borrowing the little trailer and using my Dad's Sierra to tow it. Mileage will suck, but this way I can have more piece of mind while I am beating on my rig:) If my bumpers and skids work out, there won't be much I won't try, unless there is risk up tagging the driveshaft, rolling, or doing this:
which is pretty much rolling. haha Basically I don't want to trash body panels or the driveshaft again. I'm wondering if I can get the damaged one balanced a little better so I can use it in Moab. It is so off balance right now, that I'm worried it might wear out my pinion and transfer case seals... I need Konsta to fab me up one of his trac bars ;) haha

I also would love to get an early to mid 2000s ram diesel for a tow vehicle down the road. Love those trucks.

Im with this guy and after the 7.3 power stroke had a bad habit of breaking down alot and costing lots to repair not to mention the poor milage they get compared to the cummins.

As far as track bars goes well the plazma needed new tips befor i built this one but it works great and thats good enough for me.

Yeah, yeah the 7.3L and 6.0L powerstrokes were hit and miss, hopefully the 6.7L will have a better track record. My father-in-law loves his '99 though. Has beat that thing to absolute shit, the body is trashed, the front end setup has been completely redone cuz he wore it out so bad, but hasn't ever had any problems with the motor or tranny until recently. Tows his cattle around all the time to sales, or moving them around, etc usually 15,000+lb loads and only recently it has started to have overheating issues when towing. That's why he got the new 08. Dedicated tow rig. haha
