    I am contemplating buying a nice bumper just for that reason...I know I could fab up a nice set of sliders but a bumper.....Naaa...

    ive had to pull my CBI front bumper off and give it some more support. And when i sas it im gonna add in a lot more for the sides even though it'll probably never touch rock again seeing how as ill have a 90 degree aproch angle.

    ehhh..on 1st gens its not AS important as a 2nd gen..still helps a lot but as you yourself have found the receiver in the back will project you okay..not the bed sides..but the bumper at least..
