    Also fugly.

I hate it when they try and make a truck look speed and slim

    It's a truck. Leave it a truck.

And what's the point! Put a Cummings in there!

This is what the original Dodge Rampage looked like back in the 80's.

Dodge is looking to get the 1500's mpg up as well as not redesign the half ton rearend. Car companies have a lot of rules to meet in the US to sell vehicles... One of them being that they take the average fuel economy of all vehicles that they make and average that together. That number has to be above a certain number (something between 20-25 right now I think). Well as we all know there are virtually no trucks on the market that get over 20 mpg and there just isn't much they can do about that. So is what we are seeing is companies producing more and more small compact cars and less big vehicles. They can throw that 3.0L diesel in there and improve their overall mpg rating better than throwing a big 5.9L in there. Also they won't have to spend money to upgrade the halfton rearend and tranny and what not to handle the torque of the 5.9L Cummins.

There are tons of trucks that get 20+ mpg now days. EPA tests anyways.

And yea by 2015 or something it's supposed to be 30mpg I think.

And they should make a 3.0l Cummings! Haha

There aren't many V8's out there that get more than 20 or at least not much more...

Well I was going to give you crap and say the 4BT cummins is a 3.0L but nevermind... haha. Apparently it is a 3.9L. I could have swore it was a 3.0L 4 cylinder... haha

Haha... kind of forgot about muscle cars with V8's when I posted that... I of course meant V8's in trucks.

The only thing I find odd is that there are no EPA ratings on diesels that I know of so do diesels not count towards the mpg ratings? If so then I imagine the only reason Dodge didn't through a 5.9L Cummins in the 1500's is because the half ton rear end likely wouldn't hold up well when someone starts modding their motor for more power.

Right around there, but those are Hwy numbers. I don't know for sure but I'll bet they have to take into account of the city mileage as well.

I could see that playing in as well actually. Good point. Anybody who actually needs a diesel for towing probably can't get away with just a half ton for towing but there probably aren't enough of those people around to justify producing the 2500's and 3500's. But by restricting the big diesel to the 2500's and 3500's they can boost the sales of those enough with the "gotta have a big diesel" people that they can afford to continue to produce the 2500's and 3500's. haha Just a theory though.

My question there (I don't know much about what Porsche is going for here) is why don't they just make the Caymen out perform the 911 and basically drop the 911 for new Caymens?

Dodge has reason to build the 3/4 and 1 tons as there are actually people and businesses that need them and they don't want to just let that market go to Ford or Chevy.

Nobody needs 911 anymore than they need a Caymen. haha

Yeah. Bringing back old names and keeping names around seems to be big still. Haha guess they should just beef up the caymen drivetrain and drop it in the 911.
