What cody said. Need it for the longer droop

Adding a shackle that long stock kills weight capacity too.

I sent Mike at Defined a PM, but he hasn't been on for almost a month so hopefully he notices an email about the PM and pops over here.

I asked him if they had any kits on hand that he can just ship out. If he does I might just buy one:D I went and looked at the gap between the fenders and toolbox and with that and my 1" body lift I might just be able to make defined hoops work. If I have to I will just raise the tool box up.

Getting a shackle flip for the kit and shocks might be a bit of a challenge though. The kit only provides about 2" of lift so I will need longer shackles to get more lift out of it.

You will need new shocks to take advantage of the SUA anyways.

Oh I know I will. I may have to run it without shocks for a bit until I can figure out a shackle flip for them and then I can measure for shocks.

I'm not sure how that would workout with the defined kit. The defined kit is actually designed to be used with the factory hangers. I guess it would be possible to just move the whole leaf spring in so it is under the frame in the front and rear.

Yeah the "custom" shackle option is hard to do on a DD though because our frames are dovetailed so much from the factory. I welded 4x2 tubing to the back part of the frame and spread them apart about an inch to get the geometry right. A shackle flip done right is better for a DD because you don't get so much anti squat. In my truck when I launch it hard the ass end lifts up (or more correctly the tires get pushed down) and throttling out of hard corners causes some interesting handling quirks that you wouldn't have with a shackle flip. Also on hard braking the rear suspension unloads and throws the CG over the front axle. Once you learn how to drive it's actually pretty fun, but sketchy for a DD and inexperienced driver-

Thanks for the advice. Shackle flip it is. I should just go visit Oregon again, I'm sure you could come up with a badass shackle flip that would work with the defined kit:D

Although if I had more time with Ben he probably could too:D

I need to learn to weld:pout: Then I could just attempt to do this stuff myself!

I looked at Jerry's, but Defined engineering's kit can run 14" shocks and I may need all the extra height I can get to use that extra up travel that the SUA kit will give me.

I know Mike (defined engineering) personally and he can vouch for my work (and I can for his, the dude is a master fabricator and machinist). My work isn't as pretty as his, but it's bomb proof. If you are serious we can make it happen. Plus, I'll work for ammo! lol

 I'm not exactly one of those crazy hoarder types so I don't have all that much ammo. I wish I did with the way things are looking lately though...

I do need to head to Oregon at some point in the next 11 months to get a CCW there though, so maybe:D We'll have to see if I even end up getting the SUA kit first though.
