    I run a diff drop, I feel it helps a little. It did help eliminate a vib caused by the fins touching. However, the true fix was adding 300+ lbs in armor. :cool:

    It happens when you add lift. The grease is displaced a little when you increase the axle angle. Just wipe off the excess and keep an eye on it. Mine stopped seeping after while.

    Oh ok, good to hear. Will do. I'll also be ordering a diff drop here soon, hopefully it'll help the find.

    However it's deff leaking more on one than the other, the pass side isn't really leaking at all yet

    Ok. Here goes......looks to me that the boot is tearing because you are using a wide ass hose clamp. Radiator hose clamps are a lot wider than boot clamps and the radiator hose clamps will actually pinch and cut into the end of the boot a little bit where the boot would normally flex with an actual c/v boot clamp, causing the issue you guys are having not to mention that the screw type hose clamps distort and pinch the rubber of the boot because the end of the boot is not made to go that small and thoes little cut outs in the clamp where the screw rides also pulls rubber in and tears at the boot. And there are styles of c/v boot clamps that you can get that can be brought in tighter than the screw type hose clamps that won't ride up into that little area that is tearing....if anyone would like to know what I am talking about I can take some pics to post.

    I think it started after. Deff a lot of lift, am goin to get a diff drop kit and might need to look into a boot slide mod...

    The stock clamps are like you describe. And I agree, the standard hose clamps are about an 1/8" too wide so they don't fit correctly into the place for the clamp on the small end of the boot.

    When doing this mod, I think what happens is 1, those clamps are hard to find aftermarket and 2, they require a special tool to use them correctly. So people just take the easy shortcut. But it can bite you in the ass.

    The special tools are cheap..mine was $15...works great!...you just need to shop around for the clamps.....illl try and find a pic.


    Edit:...just google cv boot clamp and you'll find pics of the clamps I'm talking about with the tool.

    Bingo...just don't tighten down on the boot to the point that it distorts....and keep the inner end of the boot clean as well as the a le shaft and you should be golden.:D

    Oh yes don't just fold over the left overs into the tabs...fold it..center punch it, fold the tabs and center punch it again, cut off the excess and fold the excess back on it self to lock it in.

    Try on line...most likely at schucks or NAPA...but try on line first. Dealer would have only the clamps that came on the axle.
