What I mean by a fuel systsm treatment is a kit that is fed by a machine through your fuelrail and injectors. It cleans out the fuel rail, injectors and the combustion chambers. A lot of the time the pinging that is caused by carbon build up will only be under an extrime load l Iike pulling lewiston grade or under acceleration when The combustion chamber is at its hottest....I knew you would have the factory shit on your truck so that is why I said pinging from carbon Buildup. The timing can be off by one tooth and not cause a rough running engine but it will cause (potentially) other codes. I have fixed a handfull of vehicles with t belts off one tooth that didn't cause poor running issues. So it is entirely possible...espally with a truck as old as yours. Hope this helps. Oh yes and the computer can only retard the timing soo much to get rid of predestination...if there is a build up of carbon. The computer can not adjust for that so it will ping regardless..and regardless of octaine, if the gass is cheap shit...like that card only place south of moscow on 95. It won't matter..it will cause runability issues.

 

You should ask me some time about what that gas did to my subaru. It was bad!

If you pr knock sensor was bad or triggering you'd have a CEL and the truck would barely run for shit. It would have no go at all

Ok so yesterday after dad got done on the taco the RPM has been runnin high when idlin. We were plannin on workin to find out what caused it but the Taco and I hit the road. Sooooo any ideas from you guys? We cleaned the air filter. Cleaned corrosion off the battery. And did a carberator cleanin. Other then that I dono what he did without me.

 

Vacuum leak......I bet you knocked off a vacuum line when fiddling....or did you clean out the throttle body? The drive by wire vehicles have very sensitive throttle plates. If you bumped it it could of messed up the calibration. If so it needs to be reset. And if that's the case. Take it to a shop.

 

Crap yeah. He cleaned the throttle body. I may have a friend that'll look at it and do the work for me. Does it hurt to keep drivin it? Cause I'm on my way to work and then he is another hour away.

For vacumn leaks a propane bottle (not lit, but turned open) can work should rev up the engine. Or some kind of aerosol flammable fluid (starter fluid,carb cleaner, brake fluid etc)

Just watch the painted surfaces etc etc
