Yea very true. My dad was sorta like wtf? When I suggested doing HAM. I still want too. Looked into it a bit. Looks actually fun. I think I'd prefer it over CBs when wheeling on trails even.

Also I used to wear earplugs all day for my lawns. I actually liked it cause when I take them out my hearing was so much better since the human body adjusts for the lack of hearing much like your iris and light.

I have a 75 Watt Icom V8000 in the taco. I got it for race/chase purposes but it comes in handy wheeling in groups. It's amazing how much range you can get with one (50 miles in open desert no problem), plus in a pinch you can have direct comms with the sherrif/rescue people. Out of the box it's limited to TX only on HAM freq's, but it's very easy to mod to TX on a wide spectrum (in case of emergency). I would highly advise that model, it's cheap and if it can survive the abuse I've dished out over the years it will last a normal person a lifetime.

So I was talking with SDHQ and it looks like 2nd gen 5100's have the most droop out of all of the coilover options for 2nd gens! Icons are 22" fully extended and 5100's are 22.5". So I would have an inch more droop with 5100's than Icons.

Icons compress to 16" and 5100's compress to 17" but I haven't damaged my 5100's so I am thinking that that extra inch of compression would be a waste to me...

Foxes and Kings have like 4.5" and 5" of shock travel. 5100's have 5.5" and Icons have 6".

Fucking awesome! Pushed my truck fucking hard! Abused that locker and hit some pretty dam hard obstacles. Couple the other day on metal masher I am positive could not have been done without a locker and probably not without 33s. Ben in a 3rd gen 4 runner mashed his gas tank and had to get strapped up something I was able to get up after 4 tries or so. Needed all the clearance you could get. Banged my front bumper into a ton of shit, mashed my skid, have a slight nick on the drive shaft, and of course other stupid damage, but nothin bad! Stepped it up a ton from last year and had a blast!!!

This morning Silas ran through helldorado (if you dont know what it is look it up) in about 2 1/2 hours. It was fucking amazing, Silas's driving, bens spotting and that pre runners capability is just incredibly impressive! Made it through everything and had to be winched up just the waterfall (couple pics in live) and only broke one cv. I bet he is one of the few, if not only ifs rigs with stock or almost stock control arms,( ifs buggies not included) to make it through that trail.

Epic, AWESOME day of dirtbiking! Did a few single tracks, can't wait to return... all this is in my backyard, literally... just a couple of miles.

So far lack of oil hasn't been an issue up front, but I don't really have miles and miles of whoops to run. More like half a mile. Haha. A little stiffer valving would be nice but I don't think I need much more or it would ride too rough. I really need to work on my rear though...

What antenna are you running with your setup?

A friend is recommending a Yaesu FT-1900R with a Larsen 5/8 Wave antenna. The Yaesu seems to be priced similarly (~$200 at Amazon) to your Icom. I am a newb to all the 2 meter stuff so I do not know the significance of all the specs on these units.

Hmmm well... I was plannin on takin it to a friend Monday. But the RPM's have been goin down and is about to normal now. Might still have him look at it. Not sure yet.
