if it made a 2500 with a tow capacity of probably 10k squat an inch, it was probably weighted front heavy (or its just how the leafs are). you want the tongue weight at about 10% of trailer weight.

who knows, throw it on your truck and see how much it drags the end down

another thing though, is stopping. you dont have trailer brakes, so a 2500 lb trailer, while not that much weight in the grand scheme of things, is a lot for just your tiny brakes to stop.
