MAN. F&F6 was way over the top but so good. They did kill off one of my favorite characters, I liked that girl. ruins the whole movie... I mean, if you're gonna be unrealistic, then have the ending be happy! oh well.

    Actually it is .625

From the looks of it he is doing flux core. Flux core is a HOT weld. All the spatter chunks around it says he either has his wire speed too faster or too high of voltage. I am betting voltage. He would be better off using MIG on that thin of metal with a .025 wire.

.125 (11ga) would have been a better choice. I agree with you there. Even .109 (12ga) would have sufficed.

    Your forgetting a 0 haha and no it's .0598 for 16 ga

    http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/scales/sheetmetal.html

I alway use MIG..type of welder has nothing to do with it really. He just doesn't have a great welder. Cant adjust the voltage. Only wire speed.

But he bought really thin metal. And was welding them to thick tubing. That I think was the main problem. His low voltage setting woulda been better for the metal he bought it being s thin. I'm willing to be the tubing on the rack was .125 so he needed the high selection t penetrate that..but it would eat away the 16 ga. So up went the wire speed. There come the globs.

    Idk..some little POS

I've been in the oil fields. Of course I haven't seen it haha

Ha ha oops I guess that woul make a difference huh??? What would that be like 5/8". Yep that would be super overkill lol

he could always build off the thicker metal to the thinner. And I MIG everything as well but I want to lean TIG so I can start doing that too. Especially on high stress welds.

Ya Ben I know what you are saying. And monte you are spot on man! The tubing is full thickness, and where the joints are the metal has been ground even thinner from getting the right shape. Especially were you see the big globs is where there is a noticeable gap. So I have to build up material on the tube to bridge over to the square tube, then get enough of a puddle going with the low amp so then I can lead the puddle to the rather thin square tubing and get a solid weld. All of that is what globs is up so bad. The shit welds I posted weren't even really shit welds, that is just how much I had to build up to fill in the gaps from the tube joining. The good joints aren't pretty. But they look like normal tacks or beads.

And tig is fucking hard dude haha! Good luck. Mig is like riding a bike, tig is like playing an instrument. Once you learn it you can't quit for a while and just pick it back up. Start with oxyacetylene welding if you can to get the hang of tig. Same principle and technique. Oxy is more forgiving to learn on.

Now arc welding, always sucked at that. Least favorite of the bunch

Arc welding is he tits for high stress. TIG is great for aluminum.

But they are both hard and take lots and lots of practice. I've never done either. Might try arc in the next few week while I'm at the nor slope. But I don't have access to one after so kinda pointless.

And he coulda..but since I'm sure he was welding it just in his truck..I'm sure the puddle was just falling down anyways.

Damn straight  like I was there...:spy:

Next time get thicker steel. I use .125 minimum for support stuff like that.

I've done som oxyacetylene welding..just for shits..fucking hard. Cutting with it even take practice. When I did my skid you can see how shit my first cuts where and when I did the oval one it was much better.

Up here I get to use a plasma cutter...my..god..so bad ass. Wish I had one.

Lol I guess Konsta has a TIG welder so I am gonna give his dad some money so I can go learn. My brother knows how to Oxy weld. Pretty good at it too. Arc welding is a lot of fun honestly. Just got to know how to work the electrode.

It is just a good skill to have especially in the Offroad game lol I love the fab part of building a rig. It is just awesome to see how everything comes together :)

the problem with the thicker steel is that its a lot more work to notch and cut. which was a bitch for my in the first place with my lack of proper tools.

and ya, cutting with the oxy torch can be a messy disaster haha.
I was actually pretty good at oxy welding. but for some reason it took forever to figureuse out how to even get a clean butt weld with tig. setting up the tig welder is also a lot harder. there are a ton of options and setting for that one. Had to bust out the manual actually and give each setting a read:rolleyes:
agreed. i enjoy fabbing. just need better tools. which are far from cheap.
