    i dont think you need to turn the key on at a precise time, just as long as its in the on position you should be good to bump it

    Yeah pop the clutch while you start it. If its the starter it should still want to start. Get someone to tap thr starter with a hammer while you turn the key.

    sounds a hell of alot like what my truck was doing a while back, minus the initial loud noise.
    does the starter give you a single loud click every time you turn the key for ignition? if so position the jump cables on the battery on the back of the battery clamps, and just turn the key over and over until it fires. might take 3 tries or 12. if it starts EVENTUALLY you are looking at a new starter

    Starters usually go slowly so I think this isnt the problem.

    Its the "pop" noise you describe that bothers me... A pop or a bang?

    could be the batt. You said you have 1 or 2 volts...really? Seems like it would be absolute zero or 10 volts. Nothing in between.

    If it is in fact zero volts, check the ground connections, one between the chassis and the engine block.

    Any unusual smell, burned epoxy?

    Not if the bang/pop was two plates coming in contact with each other.

    Other bang noise possibilities are more worrisome. It would eliminate some if the engine actually turns over some, even if it doesn't start. :eek:

    That "pop" noise was your probly your battery cable making contact with something. The weather could have something to do with it, especially all that moisture.

    I had a similar issue one morning where i turned the key and nothing. Kept turning it and just before i gave up it started.
