    I think we may end up gearing it lower just for our putting around on the farm or trail riding... people we telling me how much they had them because they couldn't get them started after flooding them... oh well, all a learning experience for me!

    if you do a valve adjustment every year or so it will start up on the first 3 kicks every time. Just have to do some work on them.

    And i dont see a reason to waste the money to gear it down :confused: just learn the feel of it and put around in 1st. no biggie.

    The valves were adjusted this spring, its just tricky to learn the compression release lever while kicking it but I got it started after 5 kicks of ever being on that bike. And its a racing bike with 13/49 sprockets and I plan to put on at least 12/52 so I can putt up a rutty trail rather than riding the clutch at all

    mostly stock
    Stock it had 14/49. Most trail guys run a 14/52. Take the number of teeth on the back sprocket and divide by the number of the front.
    Example: 48 div by 14 = 3.43 good top end or 52 div by 13 = 4.00 good bottom end. If you want a happy medium try 14 and 52 = 3.71 and so on.
    the front turns 3.71 times to 1 turn of the back, this is your gear ratio.
    the higher the ratio the lower the gear = bottom end torq
    the lower the ratio the higher the gear = top end speed
    Just dont try a 12 on front, even a narrow(cheap) chain scrubs the case.Requires spacers which offset chain which = more wear.

    I'm pretty sure you won't need 37's for the next rig unless it is another 2nd gen. Pretty sure you'll want some 42's or something:rolleyes: haha

    My question is, what the hell is Mark going to do with 37's? haha other than buy a new cv every other week:p

    OK, maybe I'll just give a 52 tooth rear a try. Can I use the same chain or should I get a new one of those also? I'm gonna have a lot more questions for yall! I wanted a dirt bike since I was little but my dad was paranoid and said no dirt bike until I had my license, then I bought trucks and cars instead of a dirtbike
