Nah i never heard the distance thing like that. It was a scholarship setup for out of state man. Distance would be hard to regulate.

I had one cousin go to WA and another to CO with it.

yup in murica, add usually 20% to our prices, even if I were to buy one like your 96 it would be 10% in duties + aorund 300 ish paperwork fees + inspection + RIV inspection + broker fees

id be in the neighborhood of around 7500 before I got one through the border. its part of the reason im looking now at different rigs, the 9k for the 85 wasnt bad but by the time i got over the border and fees i was almost 11 to 12k......

 

Sure, overpriced compared to the states. But thats just what they go for up here. Look up CanadianBlackbook for car values

Yup. When i was shopping i looked at a couple in Spokane. 2001 for like 8k, but by the time i got it back home it was another 1k... Not worth it

I was looking at a silver 2001. really clean but had bench seats and wasnt a TRD. Even with the amount of work ive had to put in mine it was worth it

 

Ya.. Unless you have someone that can pick it up for you down there and drive it across on his way up... not worth the hassle and bulshit.

2nd gens are a different story though. Buddy of mine picked up a really nice '10 TRD Offroad Sport for like 20k

 

I assume those are in Canadian dollars so you take $350 off the $7500 and $450 of $9000 to get the American price, but that doesn't change it much.
