dude the movie i watched today in class about Capitolism is seriously crazy..its shocking. Our country is so fucked up right now due to corporations.

the revolution is happening though..hopefully it'll get fixed..but i agree. All i want as well. All most people want..

and yes i know. First time i did that calculation was sophmore year..our economy was a bit better back then i think..

    either way. It adds up.

Should just pull a Fry and freeze myself for 1000years and wake up with a cool billion or whatever hahahahaha love that show.

Everything. It is why America is the way it is. Why the Rich are SOOO rich and powerful and the middle class is almost non existant. One slip up, one medical bill anything..and people are done. They are broke and out on the streets.

Its insane what they have done to our government and the charade they put on that we all eat up everyday and all the time. You should watch it. Its very very well done.

Like people back in the day used to work and get good pay and such. And corporations cut people by the millions and forced more work out of them but no pay raise. The wealthy used to have a 90% income tax!!! but they sneaked in and got rid of it.

It was just..mind blowing. criminal really. Made me really want to do something about it.

    that what its called?

    Mark movie is called:

    Capitalism: The Love Story

seriously watch it. Find it somewhere..and watch it.

k so i am just a tad biased here... but what do most of us, and where will most of us end up working? Corporations. Monte you are going to work at starbucks...thats a publicity traded company.

    I work at kroger...huge corporation.

Everything we do is impacted by a corporation. And all a corporation is, is it means the business is its own legal entity. such that the people running it are financially separate from the business. Now maybe if we talk about lending institutions that was the main cause of our econimic melt down...that might be a different story only because they are making their money with misleading and unethical business practices. But it is also caused by the citizen's ignorance to take better care of their own financial position.

People "back in the day" working and making good money...how far back in the day are we talking? because at the turn of the century to the 30s i would say the corporate world was 10x more unethical and more lawless. Further regulation and control to preovide fair treatment to employees has changed the tide making businesses more and more complicated.

and taxing the wealthy 90%!!! Are you serious? and you think thats a good thing? Thats straight up un fair. I dont care if you make 1,000,000 a year...you should NOT NOT NOT have 90% of your income taxed! Thats just unfair. Why would anyone want to have a job like that if you get all of your income taken away just because you are making more. And where does all that taked income go? to public support programs like food stamps so people working at mcdonalds can continue to do minimal work but still get everything covered for them? People are wealthy for a reason. They work hard, took a lot of risks, have a skill not many others have e.c.t. I see no reason they should be taxed to kingdom come because they make more money. Just fucking stupid.

I would also disagree that the middle class is nonexistant. all of us are in the middle class, the town I lived in for the last 7 years was just a giant suburb of mostly middle class. If you have a house, medical care for your family, a car or two, and can pay all of your bills without government aid and still have some money left over you are middle class IMO

just watch the movie. Im not good a paraphrasing it. Out of context a lot of it doesnt make sense so much.

Im well aware that practically everything is a major corporation. Doesn't mean its a good thing though..

They show some cool small buissness's that have AWESOME business models that work better.

one was a bread factory..yes..a bread factory. The way people got paid was by the hours they worked..nothing new..BUT what was different was the hours meant a parentage of the entire net income of the business. INCLUDING the owner big boss man.

So just the normal factory bread stacker dudes can make just as much if not more then their boss. All depends on the hours you put in. Everyone makes 60-70k a year..even just the guy stacking bread.

What wrong with that??? That is great! fair share for everyone and they all make a decent living which is really only what most people want like Ben said earlier.

Another one was a robot company that designs robots for everything. Their business is 100% democratic. No one is the boss. Everyone votes on decisions on what the business does. So no one can give themselves a rasie while cutting everyone else's pay. And the company can't do anything behind thier backs.

    Also pretty cool..

But your right. Everything we do is impacted by a corporation..THATS WHATS WRONG! America..IS a corporation. The stuff that movies shows..will make you sick. It also was sad how they have gotten away with it..and still are pretty much.

Please watch it  Id love to know your opinion on the whole thing. Especially after our first night around the campfire on The Epic.

don't get me wrong, im not saying there isn't a problem.
The problem is the immorality of the people running the corporations. Fixing it, what a night mare. I could say if we didn't focus on the literal bottom line, and looked more at over all positive impact then it would be a much better place. but at that the cost is a little thing called R & D that gives us every great technological advance we have. With out an incentive for future gains why would anyone go through the hassle of taking on an endevor? Thats why the first night of the wyo trip I laid out some apocalyptic, end of our way of life type shit to monte and ben and we/i went on for over an hour about this. Monte, you see now why I have such a grim view on it now? either way you look at it this perfect little world we have right now is a ticking time bomb and i believe we will see it blow.

However i do have some hope. I really think that people our age, realize there is a massive problem with the way things have become and the attitude our market has with the "old timers" running it now. We see that things are fucked up at all angles and I think that our generation wants to try and fix it. Thats why when people like cody constantly post about how he hates our generation because we are all stupid and lazy and blah blah blah all I want to say is give it a fucking rest. all that is doing is looking at the negative and the people that get attention because we give them a second on social media. People like us, people that actually care, kids that are forward thinkers and ethical thinkers that see that this way of thinking cant continue are the ones who are itching to get into positions of power and make it better.

Maybe instead of a CEO's report consisting of how much the profit margin is, they should highlight a decrease in environmental impact, or an increase in employee satisfaction, or a community benefit report.

funny you bring that up, because as i was typing my huge reply, i reverted back to that.

what you say though, about how everything we do being impacted is wrong, I would like to know anther way to do it then? To have the vast and rediculous variation of goods and services at each of our finger tips it all has to be done at a very large scale to make any of it feasible.

in my opinion those are two very different things. On one hand, is the democratic system. Which I actually really like that. I think it sounds like it works well and is fair and promotes very high transparency. But how would it work large scale? you cant have the janitor staff voting on the decisions that need to be made by the investment center. Also having everyone vote on everything is SO time consuming, the business would never be able to react fast enough to changes in market conditions or crisis depending on how big it is.

on the other hand if the bread company, which I disagree with. Again it falls into job duties and abilities. If what you are saying it right, is the guy making dough and throwing it in the oven makes about the same as the guy who has the weight of the business on his shoulders? Who has to have a degree in something to understand finances, who has to take his work and stress home with him every night, while the guy throwing bread in an oven is care free before 9 and after 5. Generally, the manager can go out and in 6 months learn the job and in this case make bread. but the break maker can go in and start running the business and run it into the ground in 2 weeks. And that is why I think that is ineffective and why I think the whole 1% thing and the hate people have for the wealthy is bull shit

Everything is just to spread out..the spectrum is too far apart. If the big dog 1% rich dudes weren't so greedy we would all be better off.

Back to the super high income tax for the rich for instance. They can afford it. But another thing is taxes pay for stuff. Duh right? Yet everyone here hates taxes and think the gov robs us blind..but i mean..taxes make our country work..pay for the roads..schools..science funding..and probably more importantly now days our national debt. I see no reason why the rich can't afford a bump up in taxes. We NEED taxes. And the rich..oppose them obviously more then anyone and literally took away taxes from themselves. Again..better explained in the movie..please watch..

Okay so first off..i feel like you fell into the total stereotype new age tech kid for the decomcracy part.

Decomcracy isn't designed to work fast..something people don't seem to remember in this day and age. Its designed to work slow, to be accurtate and double, triple checked to make sure its done right. Of course it'll take a long time.

But yes, the janitor has a say in the investment. He is part of the company and his job is just as much at stake as theirs..why not? He can always choose not to vote if its over his head. Or, get educated on it and vote. I see nothing wrong with that.

Im not totally sure if it would work on the grand scale of mega corps...but really..id be okay if we had less mega corps.

    As for the bread one:

Yes. The owner and manager makes the same as the guys making the bread..but if he puts in more hours..he gets a bigger cut of the net income. So if he is in fact working late to do contacts and other stuff..he gets more money. The owner said in the movie, he doesn't want to be filthy rich. He just wants to make money to be happy and live well, why can't his employes? He has no need for millions. So he spreads the wealth within his company and everyone is happy and loves their job and works very hard.

It's not really bull shit once you see what i mean by the 1%..im talking STUPID wealth people..these people have more money the the other 99 percent..COMBINED! thats just wrong..haha i mean..sure..if you worked hard and your a millionare..good for you. But the way some of these people get rich..is just wrong.

Please watch the movie..like..right now :p
