    so it snowed here..sorta..more like slush. Everyone is freaking out and drive 10-15mph below the speed limit :laugh: for like not even an inch of slushy snow.

    And that is why 4wd is typically useless for daily driving unless you just happen to be driving during the storm. The snow plows around here are pretty good and I can always get around in my car just fine let alone needing 4wd for the Tacoma...

    I think that is the main disadvantage of the j-shifter. In those situations where you encounter those sections of ice, a simple press of the button takes it in and out of 4hi effortlessly.

    I was gonna say... I thought you could shift them on the fly and Ben's story confirms this. Or do you basically have to stop to shift into 4hi, as in I can shift from 2Hi to 4Hi doing 55mph down the road?

    You can shift in 4hi on the fly on our j-shifts as well.

    I just press the button.

    I get what you are saying. I was simply observing how easy it was for the situation you described where you go back and forth between bare pavement and icy or snow covered sections. That was it. Not trying to make it any bigger than that.

    It may be that since you are a manual, using the lever with the clutch is better for you. I was just relating how easy it was for me in those circumstances. That is all. :)

    I can honestly say owning both the push button is faster and easier.

    I have used it several times the last few days..mostly to get out of parking spots.

    But yea, the J shift is still really easy. Just a quick pull and your done.

    Button is just less work..haha but i see no advantage to either or in this particular situation.

    And all the way in Canada..so more like 800 for us i bet to import..
