Yeah I was a little confused about the bed rack thing because I was on the other side of the crowd so couldn't hear. Figured he'd be more appreciative about getting it.

And on a side note...

I love my LED light bar, LED reverse lights, LED dome light and LED rock lights.

He's not going to be able to use a long straight edge like that if the tire is mounted on the rim. The sidewall is going to interefere.

Beside, pretty sure the backspacing measurement does not include that little lip on the rim. Really need to be inside that little lip. IMO, this is a beter technique unless you have a hard straight edge that fits inside the little lip.

haha, that is what I figured but someone is uncomfortable with warped cardboard.

Mark, take something you can easily trim to size.

 

i just had the guy measure it for me since its a long drive out there and monte assured me that there would be nothing gained from me test fitting the tires.

it came out to be like 3.5

im so on the fence about this now. monte is convinced that there is no way to make it fit because i cant cut enough out to keep them from rubbing. im just trying to figure out if i want to risk it and if i can cut enough to make it work

 

I understand your dilemma. If you recall, I suggested that most peeps seriously underestimate the dificulty of making 35s fit. I suspect that even Monte will admit that a little now. Plus, your balls to the wall D) approach does note help you here, in fact may put you in a bit of a predicament.

FWIW, I have come to trust his judgement. Plus, he has now done it himself.

 

i am aware making them fit is a bitch and a half. but to what extent is what i dont really know! like if i trim as much as i can (which im prepared to do) and they still dont fit is what mont is concerned about. and how do i determine really if they dont fit!?

 

Don't forget, his main concern is the wide tires on the 10" wide rim. He's not telling you not to run 35s. Hes telling you that set may not be the right choice.

I suspect that another set will come along that will be easy to tub for.

 

oh of course. its that god dam extra 1.3" of width. i was so amped for a month for this, than the day before he leaves he has this revelation that it might not fit

 

I recall him saying something as soon as you disclosed they were 13.5s, not 12.5s and on 10" rims. And of course, back then he had not done it himself.

Personal experience is everything in these situations man.

 

I just got back from helping Monte tub Frank and I can tell you that his 12.5" are as big as you can go. his passenger rubs on the frame when its topped out and cranked all of the way. I'm with Mike on this one wait for a different set that's more appropriate for your application.
