It also looks like there is access to the southern end of coeur d'alane lake from one of the intersections up on fs391. Follow fs388 west from where it intersects fs391. 388 comes from st. regis on I-90.

also Mike..there is actually a real route for the Continental divide..its the Continental Divide trail. Not all 100% do able in the trucks all dirt..as some of it is single track for hikers/mountian bikers. But it goes from the caniadian border all the way to the mexican border..

Which road? St Regis or Lemhi?

At Lemhi, it is all dirt, all the way from I-15 in MT to Hwy 28 in ID. That is a very kool section. Lots of history there as that is where Lewis & Clark crossed the continental divide for the first time when going west.

Right before Lemhi, like a 100 yards or so, is the very beginning of the Missouri river. I've never been to STL where the Missouri ends but I have stradled it at it's origins. Its only a trickle at Lemhi.
