While I am thinking about it, have you seen the new gas tank skid being sold by LowRange?

 

i have not.

Although i never have seen the need for more then the stock one..

 

I plan to get the low range skid depending on the thickness of the metal. Buddy of mine bent his stock one on his 4runner so bad that it dented the gas tank. He took the stock one off and just reinforced it. My stock skid is already bent up against the tank at the front.

Got to do what you got to do to make it up sometimes. Don't know that it necessarily has to do with bad lines.

Buddy of mine's 4runner. Used some scrap he had laying around until he has some time to make his own.

 

This makes a lot of sense to me. Altho, the stock materiel is not very thick. It can't be 3/16ths.

but would be a good template to use at least.

Now that i have access to a plasma cutter..shouldn't be a big deal at all to make one.

I've seen that thing someplace......remember those ubolt strike plate rear shock mounts

 

You could get those dents out of your buddies tank pretty easy. Block off the vents and hit it with compressed air. It will take a lot less pressure than you think to pop those out. I've tore up my stock skid pretty good too, but the 05+ has a plastic tank. Mine drags on hard hits through whoops.

 

The TRD offroads just have a plastic skid that does nothing... the non offroads don't have a skid at all.

I had a rock pretty much tear the plastic skid off. My steel one sees a little abuse but not much.

 

I hit mine fairly bad when i was only on 33's but havent touched it since..

 

So much want!

 

See back when Toyota was still good at making trucks they just gave all the 4xs a metal gas tank skid, like mine.
