any points specifically for overall editing? like transitions? odd scene jumps that bugged you?

and long winded huh? I am no stranger to cutting out a ton of shit, but as far as encompassing a bit of everything I think I got it down to a good length lol.

and the color correcting thing...i just dont seem to have the hang of that. not a lot op options in sony vegas as far as I can tell. Not sure how to fix that, because I dont know where to fix it and how either haha. Thanks a bunch!

Well i mean there was a lot of the same in there i guess is what i meant. Which is just another way of saying, you didn't shoot enough haha I ALWAYS do that..never seem to shoot enough when doing video. You'll always need more then you think and such. But just saying a lot was repeated, least i felt like.

Color corection is a beast on its own..and a big one. Takes forever and isn't easy, so not gonna blame ya for that. Adobe Aftereffects is used for it i know. And other programs. Not familiar with Vegas..so :notsure:

but i am still jelly of the gopro man!

    Must acquire after effects lol.

And a lot was repeated, hmm fair enough. If I was just making a regular edit there are a number of things I would cut, I'm a stickler for keeping the best stuff haha. My buddy doesent understand as well, that he thinks a lot of the clips look cool, and I'm just hitting delete on tons of them because they aren't good enough to put in. At the same time I was trying to include a bit of every place we went from the year, so it is not a surprise some stuff seems repeteted.

I wish we got more filming days in too. The sucky thing is, that when we set out to film, is when I get suuuper aggravated when i fuck up a trick (same thing when I'm trying to learn something new and not getting it) I get unbelievably pissed at myself haha, and there is no avoiding it.

But this last Saturday we went up because it was closing weekend, and it was warm and sunny and spring skiing weather so we were in shorts t shirts and hoodies and hats lol. We spent the day in the park just playing around, having fun enjoying the last day, and the whole time I was just killing it! Haven't had a park day that good in a month or two! Every trick I tied I managed to stomp it. Even brand new ones. And this was in shorts lol. I was getting so many cheers from random people after i landed tricks lol. But never once brought out the go pro to film it. There would have been a ton of good clips in there. Oh well, just how it goes.

yea man. Stage nerves :p haha everyone preforms differently once a camera is watching..or microphone recording..just how it is.

for a snowboarding thing like that. Id just have the gopro there all the time constantly filming. You'd just take it for granted eventually and then you would give 0 fucks about it. can't let that camera change you :p haha

But still isn't a bad film.

thanks man!! i appreciate the help :)

and ya you're probably right. if we had it all the time i wouldnt be a big deal, but I dont have a single friend that can keep up in the park, or is willing to film for a while, because everyone wants to ride haha. so they dont have the patience to do laps all day and film to get to the point where I would be in the fun zone and still filming haha. because of that when we try to film it almost feels like a time crunch, and i only have a couple chances too nail it or im just wasting time. Not very conductive to good performing huh lol. I just need to get better is all:rolleyes: pretty bummed winter is over. it was such a sick day I left on such a high note I want to do it again! But that was also the point haha, end the season on a high note.

Yea thats why Gopro has dedicated camera guys haha id film ya if i was there. Not a great boarder anyways tricks wise. Just like going down the hill fast or just chill and go down and carve it up.

I am hoping between Marc, Gage and I we can possibly get enough footage this summer to make a lil movie. Not sure though.

well thanks, you're too kind lol ;)

the other thing I couldnt figure out, is the rendered video looks blurry at spots...it didnt look like that in the editor, and i rendered it like 4 or 5 different times using different resolutions and video formats and it still looked fuzzy. pretty annoying and i cant figure it out!

yup! It would be rad to finally get a video. I keep trying and I keep having go pro issues and i just give up! Its certainly not easy to just kick back and have fun and still get a decent video. getting shots and planning it takes work and not many people understand it or have the patience to deal with it

yup. thats why you have to get everyone on board and have a couple of people that will share the grunt work of filming and running around. We can keep trying and maybe get something eventually haha. kind of model it off the wayalife guys

    haha without you?
strictly pov cams suck and dont provide good footage. need varied 3rd person shots to make a video thats watchable.
so you said you would get a gopro for the b roll stuff, what are you using for the actual shots lol? your camera?

what did you have in mind? you said not a 10 minute film, you just mean something shorter? like 3-5?

Pretty neat Mark. haha jk it wasnt bad at all. But like monte said, too much of the same tricks and scenes being repeated. Ive always found that sports videos are better being short and sweet. Keep it at 2-3 min max. Slo-mo is always good. Colour correction would help give it a better feeling. Turn up the vibrance and contrast so it doesnt look so dull. Especially in the overcast scenes.

Look at redbull and go pro videos. Most are always under 5 min long

Thanks man. I want to get good at it, so I appreciate the tips.

Next year I'll just have to be sure to spend more time filming and Getting a wider range of tricks. Pretty much stopped filming 3/4 of the way through the winter so there were a number of days out and progression that wasnt captured. With that I'll be sure to keep the videos a bit shorter.
Unlike the rest of these guys I want nothing to do with photography, but I filming and throwing videos together, so that's my medium of sharing stuff lol.
