    I thought the whole damn crew was going to do it. You can get a uv-82 handheld off of Amazon for 50 bucks. 5 watts transmit and programable for repeaters. Not dstar but great for the field. Plus I will be able to use my 5100 as a mobile repeater in the field. Total geek out. You youngster's need to catch up...

    yea thats what Dstar is. its a 128k connection basically. So small data files can be sent. Its like dialup.

    You have to have a dstar repeater though. we are going to set one up for NW wy.
