    Yup, drop bracket lifts require you to cut out the original crossmember...

    Sound like a lot of work, to get everything switched...

    I'd try to find a Tacoma without a 6" lift, but that's just me.

    Logan beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing about the frame getting fucked but the bumper fairing pretty well.

    I would pull the bracket off, gusset the shit out of it and put it back on. Konsta wheels the shit out of his rig with his 6" DB lift and does great. He outwheeled both Mark and I and kept up with Rocky and his 38.5's pretty well.

    True, get a good set of coilovers/uca's for the front and a full leaf pack for the rear and you'd be set.

    Excuse my ignorance, but what is "gusseting." Wouldn't all that cutting and welding potentially harm the integrity of the frame?

    welding extra metal onto things to reinforce the weak spots! :D
    Konsta was just rocking stock arms and SAW C/O's up front with 3" spacers and then an expo pack on lift blocks in the rear. Not sure what his rear shocks are.

    Well with a drop bracket he won't necessarily have any more flex up front than rig with a 3" lift and those SAW's are pretty good C/O's. He could definitely have more flex in the rear but he did out walk both Mark and I on the RTI ramp.

    Thanks for the info guys. I'll keep ya updated. Gonna look at that taco next weekend. Its a great deal for the condition and miles. He picked it up back in 04 on a repo. So you guys would recommend replacing the uca's and coils. The guy sounded older (like 55+) and probably wouldn't even know if it had aftermarket ucas already on it. Well at least I can sell my 4 mo old full OME kit and put that into upgrading the 6".

    A drop bracket just moves the upper and lower farther apart, doesn't really change the arc path of the tire during flex. It's kind of the equivalent of a spindle lift for 4wd's. You gain lift and clearance via a "spacer" of sorts but travel is unaffected. The BJ's and CV's will still be your limiting factor.

    Ah, gotcha.

    That's why I was thinking aftermarket uca's with uniballs would be good for that. But then I guess the lca ball joint would be the limiting factor...

    Screw it, just through some lt control arms on there! Haha

    Be careful with that. If it has a branded title you will never be able to sell it (unless someone like you can pay cash, but no bank will touch it) and your insurance won't cover shit if you wreck it. Even if it's a repo or stolen, completely undamaged etc. People are also dishonest about why it may have a branded title. For all you know it could have been underwater in that hurricane back east, totaled and rebuilt, etc. See what carfax says...

    this is true. Though i had mid travel in the front cuz of my coil overs giving me so much flex.

    Like i said below if you ran a track bar like i did you could get away with blocks but it's always better to have a full leaf.

    The rear set up was allpro 3" expos and 4" blocks under them with a track bar to keep from ruining a set of springs. Total i had 6" of lift cuz my truck is a fat ass and i only got 2" out of those expos. I had 12" shocks in the factoy posistion on the top and just welded shock tabs to the axle.
