    Ben, went to get my tie rods replaced today and they didn't bother because my bushings were shot as well. So it wouldn't hold an alignment...

    Which bushings are you referring to? Steering rack?

    The new tires are cupping, that means it wasn't a simple alignment issue as it was aligned before the new tires went on.

    I had to overnight some poly bushings just to make sure they get here in time... Scheduled to get the LBJ's, tie-rods, and bushings replaced on Monday. Driving over 500 miles on Wednesday, so hopefully they can get everything done...

    Just another thing to look into Ben, but hopefully the tie rods and ball joints work out for you.

    Yeah, now I can see where worn steering rack bushings could also cause toe alignment issues which in turn could cause cupping like Ben is experiencing.

    I don't think so. Tire wear is normal and steering is tight.

    Replacing the LBJs is a little like installing a locker when you regear. Your in there anyways...

    Just got pulled over on my way home from work today by ISP... Apparently my mud flaps aren't wide enough or low enough, my bumper is to high, my license plate has to be securely fastened to my front bumper in plain view instead of in the front windshield, and my window tint is too dark. I've never had problems with any local city or state cops EVER since I've owned the truck (baught it in 2008). So just a heads up... if you're planning on coming to or thru McCall, make sure you're legal! Luckily, the cop was nice enough to just let me go without any ticket (probably because I've got "Fire-EMS" plates), but the ones that come in for the busy weekend ahead are super aggressive just FYI.

    Yeah... and I thought I was following "Idaho Lift Laws" to a T... but apparently I'm illegal enough to get pulled over just cruisin home going under the speed limit.

    So the cop told me that my mud flaps have to be 10" from the ground w/out a load. Mine are at 20" from the ground... This is what I found:
    "49-949. REQUIREMENT AS TO FENDER OR COVERS OVER ALL WHEELS ON MOTOR VEHICLES. (1) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or move or any owner to permit to be operated or moved, any motor vehicle, truck, bus, semitrailer or trailer, upon any highway without having the vehicle equipped with fenders or covers which may include flaps or splash aprons, over and to the rear of wheels, as follows:
    (a) On the rear wheels of every truck equipped with a body, bus, trailer or semitrailer the fenders or covers shall extend in full width from a point above and forward of the center of the tires over and to the rear of the wheels to a point that is not more than ten (10) inches above the surface of the highway when the vehicle is empty;
    (b) Behind the rear wheels of every truck not equipped with a body the fenders or covers shall extend downward in full width from a point not lower than halfway between the center of the wheels and the top of the tires on the wheels to a point that is not more than ten (10) inches above the surface of the highway when the vehicle is empty;
    (c) Behind all wheels of every motor vehicle other than trucks, buses, semitrailers, or trailers, the fenders or covers shall extend in full width from a point above and forward of the center of the tire over and to the rear of the wheel to a point that is not more than twenty (20) inches above the surface of the highway, unless the bumper is a factory built bumper fastened directly to the frame of the vehicle pursuant to factory installation requirements;"

    That to me says that I'm fine...? What do you guys think???

    I think when they say "truck" they mean big rig. Find the regs for "passenger cars" or whatever your tater eating DMV calls normal cars. Did he give you a ticket? If not, ignore it. Probably just wanted to see if you were drunk or something. Cops are good at coming up with BS reasons to pull you over...from their point of view there is a good chance they will score a bust out of it.

    Yeah, he didn't give me a ticket or anything... just made me get out of my rig and showed me (with his measuring tape) that my shit was too high and illegal. I was nice and respectful, which probably helped with me not getting any citation or "fix it ticket." But yeah, it just sucks that I've never had any problems before now and that I got pulled over for no reason.
