Idaho BS thread in the PNW

I've gotten even more interested in this sailing thing haha. An being able to sail on the ocean would be dope! I guess if a good position put me out by the coast I wouldn't mind.

I could sail up to Seattle and visit on the weekends haha

Washington has too many cops though. I just got back from a 4000 mile road trip and saw just a few cops, and most of them were at the scene of an accident. I drive to Yakima and see ten in less than 100 miles actively pulling people over. It's worse than Russia.

Exactly. They are just tax collectors. Don't get me wrong, I'm generally not much of a hooligan on the streets, I just feel harassed driving in Washington state. In my part of Oregon, it's so rare to see a cop on the highway that I wave when I do see one, and he always waves back. That's how it should be.

 

simple just don't break the law. go the damn speed limit beside I get killer millage at 65 in my tow pig and I have no idea how my taco will handle high speeds after this build is done.

 

That's a theory. I got pulled over in my work truck with government plates near Silah, Wa doing the posted speed limit. It is a maintenance box on an F-350. It was over 10,000 pounds and considered a "truck" in Washington (but not any other state) and therefore I had to follow the big rig speed limit. Got a ticket for speeding and warned for driving without a CDL. I've never even been pulled over in any other state. It just reduces my wages paying bullshit tax tickets to the state, and makes my work day longer for no reason. I have never been in an accident (on road, took a few diggers in the dirt though!) and am a very safe driver.

 

It's rare to see a cop in Oregon in general. Least policed state in the nation. It actually has been called the nation's weakest link on the coast.

 

good point there. guess ill just have to learn all the new laws. Even though they may suck a lot I guess ill have to follow them.

 

Yeah I saw more cops in Oregon when I drove to Portland than I typically see in Idaho.

 

That's odd. The last reports I read said there were less state cops per sq mile than any other state. I'll look it up when I get home...

 

Brady, that could also be looking at state police, but not counting city cops or sheriffs. Also, it could be unevenly spread, in that there is a higher concentration of cops along main routes with virtually none out in the middle and east side of the state.

 

I would agree with that. You guys have a lot of freedom in Idaho, and I would consider moving there or Wyoming maybe. I had a hell of a time in California and Europe and don't want to repeat that experience again. Everything I like to do is a felony in Cali. Here, it's not only legal but socially acceptable. I do kind of miss all of the great trails down there...

 

one way or another ill be making the drive to moab once a year. may have to wait till the truck has an atlas but after that I will not miss it.

 

Possibly. I was on the Freeway the entire time. I went from Boise to Portland and then back.

Today it was 104 here, and my dumbass was wearing a flat black helmet and dark shirt riding around like an idiot. My bike ran the cooling fans the whole time, and I felt like I was going to pass out, but it never overheated. On the upside, we should be getting some thunderstorms rolling through in the afternoons through the weekend which will cool it off some.

 

I dont think my thermostat is opening all the way. I changed the mixture to basicially 100% water and added half a bottle of that water wetter coolant additive, and at about 60-70 on the highway in temps like this the temp gauge shoots up to 220 and looks like it wants to keeps climbing. as soon as I take it down to 45/50 max it goes down and stays around 210-215. in cooler temps (no higher than high 80s) i seem to be able to ride highway speed ok and not get that hot. So either the fan just sucks ass or the cooling system isnt opening all the way correctly

 

Take the t-stat out. Also pure water will not cool as well as coolant mixed properly will. If you get a chance check out Evans waterless coolant. It doesn't boil or freeze so you don't even need an overflow tank. You can open your radiator when it's hot and it won't boil over. Crazy stuff, popular with the motorcycle crowd.
