Started working on our vegetable garden today, were pretty excited to have our own finally!

Also swapping cv axles tomorrow hopefully for the first time! And hoping I am quick so I have time to put a spacer on top of my drivers side strut to get rid of my "taco lean"

Hows everyone elses spring projects going?

Dah, Boise. Rig is stock, just pulled the awful wheel/tires that were on it and finally sold them last friday. Went back to stock alloys and it handles way better. How's everyone else?

My spring project was my ruckus but the parts didn't get here. They should be here this week. Gonna stretch and lower that sucker. Got everything on the 4runner going how it should, other than i need to wire in more cigarette lighters for car chargers and rewire the only one I have in front. Broke the wiring while wiring in the light bar.

That looks like fun. I sent mine off to get rebuilt by a pro last time (I usually do it myself) and I couldn't be happier with the results. I had them revalved for my weight and riding style and was impressed with how well they worked out of the box. I'm ok with valving Taco shocks, but dirtbike suspension is kind of a black art. http://www.konflictmotorsports.com/suspension/

All the reading I have been doing makes it seem a hell of a lot easier than valving my taco has been. I haven't actually got to test it out though.

It's not rocket surgery, but there are a lot of "tricks" that are not intuitive on bike suspension, and unless you are hanging out with works mechanics it's just not something you pick up. At least not in my circles. Some of the desert race guys are really good at it and can make a CRF450 outrun a trophy truck (literally, look at the overall winner of the Baja 1000 over the years) but it's just not something I've been around enough to feel very comfy with.

I've been talking with my cousin a lot about it, but I'm finding out he doesn't know a whole lot about valving. haha He just reads a few things online and tries it here and there. I think I helped him out more than he helped me out. haha

I'll try to do more searching but does anyone know the best way to tell if a LBJ is bad? After I changed my cv axles it looks like the LBJ boot is leaking some grease

My LBJ boots have been leaking grease for 3 or so years now and they are still fine as far as I can tell.

Monte can probably tell you the test you have to do to check them ;) But if I remember right it's not something you can feel by hand.

you jack the truck up by the lower control arm as close to the tire as possible and then put a pry bar under the tire and try and pick the tire up if you feel any play they are bad.
I thought Monte just drove them till they broke :stirthepot:

Well if it breaks after Monte drives it does a LT just appear on the truck?

On a non truck related item. I get to be on a select team at work to implement the 5 S's of lean. It fits since I am so OCD about tools, set up sheets, etc....

Also been looking for houses to rent closer to work, and one might be on an elk ranch where I could work to pay for some/most of rent

Leak grease for a few years? Sounds familiar..

Either way. Not a likely on 2nd gens. The way they are attached is much stronger.

Not sure how you do it on a 2nd gen but using basically the same gage as setting diff you can measure the play in them.

I told them the correct way to do it above if you're curious. As far as using a dial indicator to measure the play in the balljoint, well I haven't seen a tech do that once the 10 years I've been playing this game.

Anybody going to be in Boise on Sunday evening? I could use a hand taking my TV from the rental car and puting it in my truck, then a ride to the nearest Enterprise car return in or by Meridian and a ride back to my truck.

I'll throw down for gas of course. It's more about the help moving the TV so I dont break it.

PM me if you can help. :D
