For the second day in a row, Boise set a record high of 90 degrees (old record 88 in 1910). It is also the highest temperature so late in any year since records began in 1875.

Yeah the weather had me wondering today! I had to remind myself several times this week that it was October . I wonder what winter will be like.

I bet it will be similar to last winter. I rode my motorcycle every month for at least a few days last winter.

Yeah last winter was pretty beautiful. Besides the fact that there ended up being 3" of solid ice on the roads for awhile. :puke:

I DO like sand dunes! Where are they?

That is helpful, I found a couple places in Nampa and Cauldwell that seemed to good to be true. I guess I know why now. If I end up liking it enough and find the piece of property that I'm looking for I may just stay.

I live in Idaho Falls. The dunes are just north of Rexburg. St Anthony Sand Dunes.

I feel like it's big city Idaho except for a lot more conservative compared to Boise (also a lot smaller than Boise). It's not really a college town like Boise and Pocatello are. My wife and I both found work here with our degrees and actually moved here in a big rush, found a good place in only about a week of looking. We are renting a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath townhouse apt for $700/mon + utilities.

I'm also looking to move to Idaho. Boise is at least 4x bigger than the next largest city I think, so job wise you're probably going to have the best luck there. I'm mostly looking into Boise for that reason. Idaho Falls would be cool too due to its closeness to Yellowstone and Grand Teton.

I work for myself, so jobs aren't a big deal. I also spend summers mining. I am just starting to look for a place to buy some property. I have explored most of Oregon and I have a few places picked out there. I just want to see some more, then make a decision.

Other than CDA are there any decent sized (say 30k plus) cities in the northern part?

The 5 biggest cities in Idaho are Boise, Nampa, Meridian, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello. Boise, Nampa and Meridian are all practically one town now so yeah, the Boise area is much larger than the rest of Idaho. Caldwell and Eagle make the top 10 also.

Idaho Falls is the 2nd largest area in Idaho, and I think Pocatello is the 3rd largest area. I'm not sure after that, since I'm not very familiar with northern Idaho, but Twin Falls might be next in line.

I grew up 20 min outside of Pittsburgh which has a metro area of over 2 million. Now I'm in a college town of 30k. Where I'm at isn't bad, but since everything in town is associated with the college, there isn't too much to do but drink. Theres 3 mcdonalds, 10 places to get a sub (including 5 subways), 15 bars, and a bunch of other repetitive shit within like 5 square miles haha. The town is run by the college and everything else supports it like most college towns, but the townies and students hate each other. 10 minute drive and you're surrounded by farms. I don't mind the size, but I just wish there was more shit to do here.

Boise seems like it's large enough to offer a everything that I actually would enjoy but not huge that it takes 45 min to get across town. Idaho in general seems like the republican version of colorado which is great haha.

CDA like Ben said would be nice because its a small town but also 30 min from a medium size city. Too bad there's no vacancy there :(

Depending on when and where you are going in Boise it can take 30-40 minutes to get across Boise. It takes me 20-25 minutes to get across Idaho falls...

Boise has a metro of about 650K and Idaho Falls is about 130K. The whole state only has like 1.6 million people or so now.

Ill formulate a solid answer at some point when im not studying lol
our weather is about as fucky as you can get
where did you go to school?
Idaho is indeed red as red gets. Funny too, is i am planning on moving on out of boise to Colorado here soon. and im pretty conservative. But i certainly dont think colorado is too far away from that side of the scale. I think they have alot of the liberal perspectives right and where the two should cross.

IUP. You used to live in Pittsburgh didn't you?

CO isn't super liberal like most of the north east is, but just reading about cost of living, weather, and stuff to do, Boise seems hard to beat.
