That's why i said usually. But the more important question is how are you people loosing U-joints don't you ever grease them?? My 03 taco had the factory joints in it up till sas also my 99 taco and 2000 runner still have the factory joints in them all of them have well over 200K miles.

The only time anything was greased was in Sep of 2014 when I got the truck. I haven't done it since, probably something I should learn to do. I'm guessing maybe I f'd something up when I was playing in the gravel and snow last week.

 

Well I hope I didn't break anything. Buddy and I got stuck in the snow in his car so we walked to get my truck and promptly got that off camber in a snow bank tying to get to him. A kindly stranger pulled me out and we continued to my buddy's car. Got him dug out as much as we could, then hooked up. Started pulling, just little tugs. But something in my truck made a loud pop. Everything still works fine and the truck is behaving well, but still unsettling. Also RIP my clutch.

Just sas question for you how long did it take you to convert the truck?

Honestly after i pulled her into the shop and started cutting she drove out with 4x4 7 weeks later only working weekends. would have gone quicker if i just bought a kit, we did Rocktoy's sas in 3 days.

 

Lol. ummm I guess the first initial conversion.

 

If i didnt build/ design everything for my sas i could have had it all done in 5 days but like i said it took me 7 weekends to drive it the initially. then i changed the suspension set up two more times and add'd room for the atlas the last go around.
some time this summer ill be doing another sas on my 99 taco, I got tempted to LT but lets face it SAS>LT.

 

Where's Andy at?! @Mudsaucecoma If it's a u-joint he could probably help you out for less than the Toyota

On that note, do the 1st gen Prerunners have sealed u joints like the 2nd gen ones do?

 

Do you have list of parts you purchased to get the sas going on your build thread?

 

Good idea, I will. Gotta figure it'd be hard to break anything too major with the mighty four banger. I checked out my ubolts, shackels, main eye bolt cause the pop sounded like it came from the rear. All looked alright, I'm thinking my towing package may have been pulled rearward a bit since the holes for the bolts are oblong.

 

Mostly free Friday night. I just finished installing a CB radio but don't have a swr tuner. Do u? @m3bassman
