    Not really much for aftermarket. Hang on to your OEM! Reboot them before they get ruined! Toyota wants $550 for a new CV axle. Napa and Oreilly have them for about $100 but they break a lot easier and don't have as much articulation as the OEM's.

    RCV has some good aftermarket axles but they are $1000 an axle! They have more articulation but I haven't felt like I need more than the OEM have and I have yet to see any confirmation that they really are stronger than OEM. Besides if they are the next weak link is the little stub shaft or your ring and pinion and both of those are a lot harder to replace than a CV axle.

    I've run the OEM CV's, cheap cardan CV's and the CVJ's never had issues with breaking any of them it's always the boots that go. I would say get the CVJ's best bang for the buck in my opinion. Where you guys wheeling at looks cool, we have too much snow to do much around here. We are going to Paradise (Glenns Ferry) on Saturday to ride some dirt bikes but I would like to take the truck out some time soon if folks are wheeling.

    So much this. Something will break, and it'll always be the weakest link in the system. I'd rather have "weak" CVs that can be replaced on the trail easily and inexpensively, than grenade a diff.

    Yep! I know of 3 1st gens that have broke the stub shaft in the front diff before the CV axle broke. That hints that thatbstub shaft isn't much stronger than the CV axles themselves...

    Haven't seen this on a 2nd gen yet, but thay doesn't mean it couldn't become an issue.
