So question for you guys. So currently my wife and I have my Acces Cab 2006 Tacoma and a 2003 Honda CRV

Our family of 4 fits okay in the truck but lets just say it's tight.and kids are only getting bigger... The CRV fits us but has some issues. So here's my thoughts!

-Sell the truck and Car to buy a nicer Toyota 4runner or highlander. AND buy a older Toyota with Solid Axles and wheel that, also buy a road bike to cruise on in the summer

-sell the truck, buy wheeling/truck and street bike and put extra cash into car to make it dependable

-Change nothing at all and save up for a few years to buy a street bike

Keep in Mind I need to make adult/parent decisions but I want to still have fun out hunting/wheeling and go fast ....and We need a family rig

I'd say the first one. That way you can have a family rig, you can mod a little if you want but keep mostly stock, while still having a dedicated offroad rig. Plus you get a summer cruiser. I have a 4runner, and its modded up, but still is awesome for just going around town. I get how you want to make smart decisions. I've actually been toying with selling mine and getting something that makes more sense for me right now.

Only thing holding me back is all the sentimental memories with the truck

Yea, thats always tough. Gotta decide what is more important. I've said I would never get rid of vehicles but always seem to.

Do you both need a car? Because I wouldn't get an 80s truck to daily drive.

Realistically how often are the 4 of you in the truck? Can you plan it so whenever there are 3 or 4 going in a vehicle you take the SUV, and any time else you can take either?

My thought too is camping. Are you going to take the Highlander or CRV camping somewhere because you can't all fit in the older crawler?

I'd wait to do all this vehicle switching until we buy a house. There are a few out by work that I like so I could ride the bike to work in summer and use the wheeler truck when it's cold... The family rig would still be somewhat off road capable...

Ideal hunting/wheemling rig would be an older 4 runner or truck on Toyota axles with maybe 35's with hopefully selectable locker of some sort front and rear...

I wouldn't want to go for a full on truggy... Still would want a heated cab and a bed to carry game home

Well if your going family rig that is offroad capable then the 4runner is perfect. Mines regeared and rear locker, plus all the armor and other goodies, but i daily it every day. Well except my new work truck, but before that. it's never left me stranded or stuck. That being said, my mileage sucks the big one, but that mostly from all the extra weight.

I love it here! The town is nice enough and has enough so I don't have to trek to Boise every week to buy necessities. It's remote enough but still civilized enough. I'm definitely staying in the PNW when I separate though, the entire area is beautiful and significantly better than living in FL or south TX!

I like the open high desert where you can go shooting and not have to worry about hitting a house...Anderson Ranch dam is cool too. My only regret there is I didnt get to do much hunting and fishing...too busy being deployed, and going to college...

After wheeling my only vehicle I'll never do it again.

Tow pig and trail rig > wheeling your dd.

Sell the Honda, use that toward down on a highlander for the wife/kids, and keep the truck you have.

It's definitely not the cheapest option

    Resolution I've came to:

The Tacoma is the main part left of "Cameron" before I changed to "Dad" so I'm keeping it. Might just put extra money this year intro the Honda so we don't worry about it scrapping out on us...
