Statistically all of Mexico is safer than the Rez I live next to... I'm going to Baja with my kid within 3 years of it popping out this may. No ragrats! and Idaho thread

 

So? I want to go wheeling. Not watch other people go wheeling. hopefully some day...but I would rather do the rubi then go down to baja

I've asked Ben, but for those of you who have lived in Boise for a while how is the cost of living? Been applying to a lot of positions that way but not sure it will be the best fit for me.

Let's assume ~3k monthly income, just myself and the dog for the first year. 1-2 bedroom, doesn't need a yard but I would need a good area to walk the pup.

From what I have read, this seems reasonable but I don't trust average living costs in big cities.

I prefer being in locations where I can ride my bike for most things (groceries, fast food, entertainment). After the first year, if all worked out, we would be looking at buying a house.

I've been here about 2.5yrs and have never lived in an apartment, a lot of that has to do with the dog I had (dangerous breed/size) and my preference/tolerance of living close to other humans .
Yes I have found some fairly decent apartments for a few hundred less than my current 3B 2bath, 2 car garage with a fenced yard house. But the apartments being $200-300 less than the house wasn't worth it to me. I would of had to pay for a storage unit as well as dealt with "apartment living"..

The typical house my size rents for around $1,200 $1,300. The apartments I've found are around $800+-$1,100.

I guess it just depends on what you can tolerate.

 

Saw a dog just like yours last night when i was working over a snow pile to one of our favorite trails. no idea who's dog it was but it was damn play full and tried to follow us home.

 

Mine? I got rid of my German Shepherd last year. I miss him but it was a good choice, he didn't like being home alone for 40+ hours a week without a job.

 

Poor dog.

She did. It's working out pretty good. The PT job market is a little saturated in SE Idaho do to the lower demand paired with the high number of PT's because of the school, but my wife found a job within a couple months of graduating and enjoys it. She spends a ton of her "free time" doing paperwork though...

 

Kind of...It's still legally my dad's boat, but will be mine in time, and I can use it pretty much anytime. I just have to go to Everett to get it (yes just south of your old stomping ground)
