Hi All, longtime lurker just getting around to being a little more vocal here. Fellow Idaho (boise) resident, just wanted to say hi! I've spent a lot of time scoping group buys and learning from other folks on here, felt like it couldn't hurt to be more friendly.

Alright guys, looking for some advice. I posted a while ago about looking to move up there, planning on doing a road trip up this November to scout out some areas. We will be driving from san diego to Salt Lake City, then from there to Boise/Nampa area. We will have family living in Salt Lake City And Nampa, so looking for areas around there. Any recommendations ?

What specifically are you looking for? House? Apartment? Near restaurants? Want more of a downtown vibe?

Dream set up would be a house on minimum 1acre, Shop, Close enough to town to have all the amenities, but also not in a track home area. Basically I would love to be out on 100 acres in the forest, wife still needs to go shopping so we have to compromise ha ha

I will probably go from active duty army to the guard in Orifino. It's a $5k bonus so i was thinking getting a lift finally. What would be the best lift for about $2k?

Also forgot to add, would be raising young kids there, so looking for decent schools and low crime.
We've been looking at Caldwell, looks like affordable, from what I've read it used to be rundown but is cleaning up?

Nampa/caldwell are ok. For me, crime is a little high for me to be comfortable with, and Nampa/Caldwell roads are garbage!! I would say look at Star/Eagle area for an upscale side of the valley. If you are looking for maximum benefit with modest pricing try south of Meridian towards Kuna.

Yeah that's kind of what I've heard, but remember I'm coming from California so I'm thinking 'high' crime for Idaho is still better then what I'm used to haha

I have a friend that has a family in Eagle area...Ive never heard him say anything bad about crime. theres always something somewhere just some places are worse than others. Nampa always looked rundown to me. Mt Home was ok....not that far of a commute if you had to.

Tried to make it to Trinity Lake this past weekend. The family wanted to see the moose I saw last time. Well, winter really hit it up there.

Property in Eagle is spendy (for the area at least), but from what I know they have the best public schools in the area. Star would be easier to get a little more property or south Meridian/Kuna as stated previously. A lot of the new homes in south Meridian aren't track houses per se (usually a ton of different builders in any given development), but the houses are on pretty small lots. My house is only a 10,000 sq ft lot, coming from 6,000 in CA. But it's plenty of space for my wife and I, and our 2 dogs.

Caldwell/Nampa are a bit of a drive from downtown Boise, but absolutely nothing from Bay Area standards. Don't know enough about either area to speak to the crime there.

Either way, it's significantly better here than CA aside from the lack of good Mexican food and the ability to go to a Warriors game.

Icon, king, or BP51. With the rear springs, get a new leaf pack, not add a leaf, and no blocks.
