If we do the turquoise route we’ll hit the back side of Jump Creek canyon. The routes are suggestions and not set in stone.

We ended up going solo on Saturday and the trip started nice. The trails were a little muddy but the new Wildpeak A/T3s we got handled them well. We only did 7 miles because we did some sight seeing, climbing and geocaching. Had burgers for lunch and then it happened: one of the radiator fan blades broke of and cut four holes in the back of the radiator. So the truck lost coolant and died. Luckily we were on a gravel road and not on some trail.
Thought we could get AAA to pick us up, but the had a problem with transporting 4 people and we had to wait for a big truck and then they discovered we were on a dirt road, two an a half hours later, and they canceled the tow. Said we could use their service provided for 95 an hour. But they had a problem finding a big enough truck, so I called Toyota care. They were alright with the gravel road, but not with transporting 4 people. Said I should call a taxi or Uber.

Luckily we had intermittent internet and could get a friend to come pick us up. We left the truck there over night. I went out this morning and tried to repair the radiator so I could drive it the 5 miles down the mountain to pavement. Didn’t work. So I called Toyota care again and they sent a 4x4 wrecker up to get me. Had to drive down and meet him because he couldn’t find it. But it worked. Truck’s at Toyota. Let’s see what they say about it.

That’s a sorry sight there at the end.

Probably need to rethink going solo.

Yeah, I’m excited to hear what they say. Right now I’m just glad it’s not on the mountain and I didn’t have to pay who knows what how much for an extraction.

I can only think of one place at the moment that would make my "top 3 list" currently and that is Hells Canyon. I know a lot of people float (raft) it or do jet boat tours but all we did was drive to it and I thought it was incredible. Definitely a must see/experience.

Pond Oreille is nice, just dont get caught out in a boat when its windy...waves kick up like crazy. But when its little to no waves its really nice. Deep water and miles and miles of lake.
