If you don’t mind driving you could look at at Idaho City.

I think there's only smog testing in Ada and Canyon county. It's actually pretty relaxed compared to CA. When I brought my 911 in, the dude was like where is the emissions sticker and I didn't realize they stuck it on the underside of the decklid (which was hanging in my garage). Told him, sorry it's gone. He asked if the car was stock, and I said no. He didn't care. It was maybe 15-30 seconds of a sniffer and I was done.

Granted I took my cat bypass off and put the cat back on for this, but it was still done with an open element filter, a MAF instead of an AFM, software, secondary bypass, etc all in place.

My taco is still too new to require testing, but I don't see any problems with it passing since the motor and exhaust are all stock.

Just checked to see if my FJ needed to be tested. Looks like Canyon Country has emissions testing as well.

The last six guys that worked here said the same thing for the first couple of weeks. I used to ride sleds for fun, and it's totally different. You get to choose not to go if the weather is bad, or just stay on groomed trails and rip around. Great fun. I don't get the luxury of groomed anything, it's all back country, and there is no choice of destination. I don't have signs or markers. If I get lost, I'm a wolf turd and that's it. Might find my gnawed on bones in the spring. I have to get to the site, and it doesn't matter if it's in the middle of the worst blizzard in ten years and the avalanche conditions are critical. Boss man don't care, go up the mountain and fix it.

I'm looking around the south side of the freeway, mostly around Kuna. I am really not an HOA person, seems like 95% of Boise homes are in one. I also need room to park 3 rigs and a toyhauler, and have a detached garage. The lot size doesn't matter much, but the closer the neighbors are the more issues we'll have. That really limits the real estate choices by a lot even if I am willing to have a 45 minute commute.

I'm late to the party, but property taxes in Oregon are double what Idaho's are. Plus for the house you live in you get a homeowners exemption which cuts the property tax in half so if you only own your one house then that makes it a 1/4 of what Oregon's is. Income tax is a little less, but that probably breaks even with sales tax.

Looks like they already covered it, but only Ada (and apparently Canyon) county does inspections. I've never had to have any of my vehicles inspected.

Property prices have been high since the end of 2015 though when the interest rates dropped to 3%. Here in the Idaho Falls area everyone started building houses because there were virtually no houses to buy anymore.

Check out Idaho National Laboratory. Maybe they'll have a job for you. It's about an hour commute each way depending on where you live, but they have buses and you can sleep during the commute. I work 4-10's. Benefits are pretty awesome too.

I have been looking at INL, just haven't seen anything up my alley yet. I would prefer to stay .gov, but the contractor side pays a lot better. Something will work out eventually. Until then I'll just come visit! I don't know about the property tax thing. I pay around $2K a year here, and it looks like it's a lot higher than that for the places I'm looking at (according to Zillow anyhow). Thanks for your help everybody!

We pay about $1200 a year. Our property was valued at $200K. I live outside of the city in Bonneville County.

Don't forget the timber reduction too if you have 6+ acres. 1 acre counts for your house while the rest is valued for the growth in timber per year and taxed accordingly, no matter what you paid for it. It's peanuts compared to a residential value!

In a taco? No, but if you don't have the ABS mess on the passenger side firewall area it will fit there. Some people run two in the factory position as well.

Yea I’ve seen all the setups people run on here, just wasn’t sure if that one would fit or not without modification
