Changed the diff fluid in the FJ today, handbook says 3.1 quarts. Put in 3.3 and nothing dripped out. Can you over fill a diff?

As long as your diff breather works you’ll be fine. I wouldn’t stress over .2L if it took more than .5 over I’d be concerned

Yeah, I thought it drip out the fill hole when it was full. That’s why I put more in.

I’d have to fill it with through the breather to get it full enough that the breather won’t work.

My reasoning for the breather comment was so that as the oil and diff heat up so does the air. When that all expands from the heat - if sealed it could cause an axel seal to pop. Not likely, but also not impossible.

Ok, then I misunderstood you. The oil wasn’t dripping out of the fill hole, so I guess there’s enough room for expansion. I assume the breather works. We’ll see over time.

Twin Falls here. I creep over these forums often. I recently returned from a trip in canyonlands. There was some 4lo areas but nothing to extreme. My 3rd gen Taco has bilstein 5100 on all four corners OME 887 springs and Dakar HD leaf pack. I have JBA upper control arms. Recently I have noticed that I have some rubbing going on while doing daily driving around townonly on the passenger side. Tires are only 265/75r16. So looking into it my tire is offset back into the wheel well more then the driver side causing the rub. Does this sound like a simple alignment issue in maybe the caster? Or is it something a little more serious or possibly out of spec upper control arm? You guys shed any light on this?

Where should I take my truck to get an oil change? Due to living circumstances we can't do it at home currently . Is the Toyota dealer the best bet? Or can I talk Einstein's into using a Toyota filter that I provide for them? o_O

I would offer my garage, it’s not that big but it works. Your boyfriend would be welcome as well. I’m in east Boise. I would just ask that you take the old oil and filter with you.

I’ve never been pulled over on the bike but I have one ticket for 11 over in the truck just going to work and not in a hurry. Just not paying attention

Ive had one ticket for 11 over in 2003, I was prob going 20 over the posted 50MPH (in some podunk backwoods area where there was nothing around for miles) but slammed the brakes when I saw the State trooper, I know he saw my car swerve when I jammed the brakes... but still cost me $160!

Offset was a bad term to use, I see how I mislead you. The wheel and tire sits farther back towards the door when compared to the other side, This is what is causing the rub on only one side, today I jacked the truck up and felt for loose stuff with no results. I am still confused as to what has caused this. I had no rub before. Im starting to wonder if the caster adjustment is out of wack on that side, I guess maybe this could rotate the tire forward or back giving the look that the actual tire sits more towards the front or back. Tomorrow hopefully I have enough time for an alignment. Another idea is maybe a loose body mount? but i don't think so because the cab sits square with the bed. I have read on here that guys run 285's with no rub. My truck would rub super bad with 285s obviously

I appreciate the offers! We could do it here but our oil pan is in god knows what corner of the storage unit and we need to figure out where to dispose of the oil? Where does everyone take their old oil? (We won't talk about what we used to do with it :anonymous:)

I'll probably just take it to Toyota. It looks like I may have a head gasket that's leaking, we noticed oil stain on the block the other day, so that should probably be looked at.

I was doing 30 in a 25 in downtown Meridian today and had a Moto cop just about break his neck giving me the warning stare. Apparently you can't do 5 over in downtown
