    We’re in CdA again today.

    from my observations this week:
Rural areas are still good places in ID and WA. Both 2A friendly, can readily buy in the areas we were in (Spokane, Ellensburg, Tri Cities, Post Falls)

WA taxes the shit out of alcohol and gasoline. Not a way to attract people.

as a former Californian (just there for 3 years for work), I learned quickly that you did not announce that fact in Utah. At least in both WA and ID areas we saw, we didn’t get that hatred response when it came up in conversation. (We decided that from now on, when asked, we’re from Alabama, regardless of where we’re at at the moment.)

from my CA experience, it’s the large cities that the rest of the country hates and lumps all Californians into. San Francisco, Sacramento, LA is the population centers and crazy people.
Once outside there, CA is very republican and loud about telling everyone about it. I wish more people could see that and not judge the state as a whole.

The scenery is gorgeous and to each their own. But, my opinion is that Boise is a poor representation of Idaho. It reminds me a lot of other places that were once cool that are getting ruined by development. But that’s just my opinion and I will admit that I enjoy brewery hopping down there from time to time.

I think our differences in opinion don’t necessarily lie in the politics or mindset of the city itself. My idea of Idaho is this:0CAA38D4-7FB9-4FA9-94FB-C1466ADAC81F.jpg

Urban areas and commercial development into cookie cutter molds bums me out. I lived in Mt. Pleasant, SC for a couple of years and recently moved back to Idaho. It was sad to see beautiful wet land and forest get knocked down to make way for a shopping center or a parking lot. It’s sad to see places grow even if it means better economic opportunity and wealth. Dirt roads, wooden signs and no cell service are where it’s at.

To be fair, I was born in the San Diego area. Hate that place. Happy my parents moved us up to Idaho at a young age.

It’s not. It was in the Mallard Larkins. Did a 3 day backpacker in there this summer. Will be back again for sure.

Edit: My profile pic is on the road coming back down from Buffalo Hump.

Just a spot at the moment. I’m going to get a 406 plb though before this next summer. Also want to get my HAM license, just haven’t set aside the time to go do it.

I guess the big thing with the HAM is that I lack any education on the equipment and the capabilities so it’s a little overwhelming. I’d like to find someone local to help me get a better understanding and to mess with a setup or two to see what can be accomplished with different size/powered units.

My GFs brother moved to the greater boise area last year, had some money saved up and bought a house and he loves it there.

I on the other hand am concerned about the rapid growth and the problems it brings so im convincing the GF that the greater CDL area is the place to be. Thinking of renting a small apartment in CDL while saving to buy a home more north (maybe hayden? Maybe farther away from town).

Both of us had looked at idaho for years since the state was aligned with our political mindset and our love for the outdoors. Not to mention the weather, i like me some woods, not the desert lol

It wasn’t like big chunks of national forrest, or anything like that. All private lots. All within city limits. Just places that you’d pass driving or on a walk that get logged, leveled and paved and no longer emanate the sound of the bugs and the other things. By no means was I suggesting that national forrest is getting torn down with reckless abandon.

Never thought of an App! I’ll have to download one and get to work on that. Thanks for the suggestion.
