Sounds like an air leak of some sort. Exhaust system/manifold or vacuum leak maybe...

That's kind of what I was thinking. Wouldn't I be throwing a code though?

I showed my brother and he said maybe the idler pulley needs lubed? Which might be the rattle/schreeching sound.

To me it sounds like something is loose or rubbing. Is it tied to the engine revs and by that does it increase in frequency when you rev the engine? If so I'd check the fan blades, shroud, belt, and pulleys since that's all easy and outside the engine. Then if not you could try and get a mechanics stethoscope and listen to the valve train and water pump.

Have you had any maintenance done recently or mods installed?

It comes and goes with revs, doesn't really seem to have a rhyme or reason. It started out every once in awhile when I would start it and now it's everytime, but will go away too.

I will check those things today. Also might go and blow the engine bay out with a compressor as it used to live on a dirt road and maybe the belt is just dirty?

No maintenance and it is still under warranty (certified used) so I'm not going to be modding the mechanics anytime soon. I did check the oil yesterday and it's over the second bubble, not sure if that's right? (Dealer did the last oil change).

Yeah, I took mine past Gowen on Pleasant Valley road and the farther you go, the more options you have... there are a ton of spots to pull off and drive around... not rock crawler style, but there are some bumpy spots you can get to.

So looks like I will be moving up to the Boise area this summer. I’ve been trying to move up there for 3 years, (back when prices were good)
So of course when house prices are bonkers my wife’s work decides now is a good time to relocate her up to Idaho

Haven’t spoken to Boise 4x4 yet, I’ll check it out. 4wheel parts and Bucks don’t do them though, they send them out is what I was told. Someone recommended Accutune in California. Looks like they have a pretty good system where they tank the bodies and all before rebuilding them. I was just hoping to avoid shipping costs on them.

Hell up in the north end we bought our house last year and it's gone up 30-40% in value. It's insane.

Got out to the snake on the Oregon border yesterday... took a nice dirty road around some hills out of the town of Adrian?
Anywho...me and my son had a blast.

Considering a tent for my truck. Definitely not going to buy a brand new one. What brands should I keep an eye out for used? Would be a bed rack mount vs roof (I don't think it matters?)

    All about preference I guess....
I cannot speak for a tent as my only experience has been SmittyBilt, and so far have no complaints. I see alot of CVTs on the road here in Idaho. Seems like a solid brand.

I looked at the full height racks and felt that by putting the tent on those, the wind drag and loss of MPG was enough to go with the mid height.
I also like the "aggressive" look of the UpTop rack on mine, vs the standard kind of basic rack style.

I'm still trying to justify the cost of one.

I can't imagine it'd be used more than a handful of times a year, considering we have a converted cargo trailer for camping. But I'd be nice to just hop in the Taco for smaller/quick trips.
