it's going back in to the shop next week. last time they put a new switch in saying that was the problem but it is not. They better put a new actuator in or replace my transfer case cause this is some bullshit that it's still not working on a regular basis.

 

i read somewhere that you can swap out the FJ t-Case internals to a 2nd gen and have a manual 4lo and keep the 4hi shift by wire.

 

I still have the remainder of the factory power train warranty for another 2k miles so it better be fixed by then

 

hopefully it's a part thats covered under warranty if not i'll have to break a differential and a transfer case in the next 2k miles

Its not all hard-core rock buggy stuff like some of those vids show. There are literally hundreds of miles of trails nearby the town of Moab. With all levels of difficulty.

Hey Ben, I'm thinking (based on that trail difficulty numbering system that NYCO posted) that my comfort level maxes out at a 5 rating, at most a 6 rating. I'm pretty sure there will still be a lot of trails that fall into my comfort zone.

Did you see that list of the trails and their difficulty ratings?

 

Well, you gotta remember I have never been there either.

I did order a couple of moab trail books from Amazon that I hope will give me enough understanding of what to expect BEFORE I get committed to doing a particular trail.

Besides, one of the advantages of being "an old guy" is that I've learned (the hard way sometimes) how not to get into a jam or how not to get roped into something I don't want to do.
