    Haha i want too, i talked to him, everything seems pretty dam good. 122k is still high miles, so on a high mile taco what should i be looking out for to replace? he said he replaced the struts and shocks last year, oil changes every 5k, hes 63 (also 2nd owner) so its not like he wheeled it like alot of people on here do. He said no timing belt change though so it looks like it will be in the shop for that after i get it...when i go check it out and drive it anything i should check for, look at, listen for specifically?? im no mechanic so if there is no obvious engine problems i will be pretty ignorant at spotting them. It could be on the verge of exploding and i might not be able to tell lol

    ya im defiantly hoping to get him down to atleast 7...that way ill be able to break even when i sell mine. Which btw i kbb'd, and my taco now is worth $7500:eek: i doubt ill be able to get that...but what do you think i should list it for? i dont want to scare people away from buying it though either.


    haha i already drive a 2.4 auto magic, im used to slow. hopefully the extra .3l will make up for the eventual bigger tires and make it almost as fast as my current taco

    lol well no shit, but if i put a 12 year old 2wd truck (even with 38k) for 7500 i am thinking it would scare people away from trying or considering, maybe im just being to cautious.

    thinking i should aim for a 6000? its more of a what i am willing to pay situation...my budget is basically whatever i can get out of the current truck. so i am willing to go a bit higher just because i am tired of watching nice trucks slip away. most of the tacos ive been lookin at are all around 150,000+, so im trying to keep it as low as i can. maybe im just getting anxious for a truck, but playing the waiting game for the "perfect" truck to come along is not how i work. unfortunately if i see something i want...i am pretty set at getting it. waiting for an 01 trd with under 100k is not going to show up often...and i dont want to wait an unknown amount of time for it to happen

    update on my truck hunt, mostly for my idaho brother m3bassman because hes been about the only one following it and have been talking to about this truck search for a little while.

    I had a family friend up in mccall check out the truck to make sure it was worth looking at, and he says it looks good, so now im heading up there tomorrow (because the guy selling it said he had quite a few calls about it) and im meeting the guy at 9am and unless there is something mechanically or seriously wrong, its a pretty good chance that ill be bringing a 96 4x4 home tomorrow.

    Sounds exciting man! I love my 96 even though its 15 years old. Make sure you test that 4wd very well. When I test drove mine, I drove it hard and fast up hills to make sure it had plenty of guts left. Check the frame for rust too. My truck passed the frame inspection with no problem but you never know. Also ask your dealer to see if their still doing free frame sprays. Good luck!

    idaho doesen't salt the roads, and its only had 2 owners so i am pretty sure it has been in idaho its entire life. But ill be sure to bring a screw driver and jab at the frame about 100 times. Seeing how you have a 96, are the any specific things i should look for that you have noticed breaking or showing sign of any serious problems?

    but i could care less if its 15 years old, its at 122k, from what i have heard its been well taken care of. i need it to get to 170-180k without any major problems or repairs, then ill be happy. I basically need it to last 3-4 more years. And from everything i know about these trucks, it looks like i shouldnt have a problem squeezing 40k miles out of this beauty.


    indeed! and Now (hopefully) i will be able to go wheeling and (hopefully) get up for a meet in the future.

    I bought mine at 192, and I'm sitting at 217 right now. The only major work I've done is o2 sensors, muffler, timing belt, water pump, plug wires, thermostat, and shocks. Check to see how old those parts are.

    does the 2.7 have a chain or a belt? the pump i am getting done when i get it because he says it has not been changed. But ill be sure to ask about the rest thanks

    they meet in meridian for christ sakes! That is the kind of group i am looking for! God if i dont get this truck i am going to be heartbroken. Ive had nothing but 4x4 thoughts racing through my head constantly for about 3 days now.
