    Well something doesn't quite add up. If, as Monte says, boxman is running 4.5" in back and as Ian says, boxdude is using the standard OME rear shock, those shocks must be for extended length applications. Otherwise the shocks would be too short if they are mounted in the stock locations.

    It would be nice to know if there is only one size and their exact extended and compressed lengths.

    Id just guess that Boxrocket has almost 4'' of lift..i don't really know.

    But i also wouldn't be surprised if there were different length ones just like there are for the 5100s..

    that'll be a while.

    I think im gonna end up ordering the Alcans and painting the truck..then building fenders/tubing fire wall. Rebuilding from what i can my bed/roof rack and calling it good for the summer/year.

    Me too if any of you need a hand down this way. I also have a portable Nitrogen tank with fill adapter if anyone needs a recharge, and I'm pretty good at tuning shim stacks as well.

    Travel: doesn't mean squat. A well tuned shock and balanced car is far faster than lots of unchecked travel. That said, with icons and tc ucas I got 11", I'm sure of it. I measured from the holes in my inner fenders the Uca bolt made to the Uca bolt at full droop. That said, static and dynamic travel are different #'s. Shock towers flex a lot. Example: it's hard to simulate full stuff in a shop-

    I'd believe the 11" inches. Like I said, someone said the stock LCA's are capable of 13". I also agree with this, "A well tuned shock and balanced car is far faster than lots of unchecked travel." That is why I am eyeballing an MT setup. While my setup may be on the edge of being MT, it is likely not a very good MT. I'd like to measure but I doubt I have much down travel in the front. And yes as the pic shows haha, it would be pretty hard to simulate that in a shop.

    I'm curious what my numbers are in the rear. I have plenty of lift so I should have ok up travel to the timbren bump stops, but I don't know what kind of droop those leafs have. I've only ever jacked the rear up from the axle housing.

    9" with stock shocks? It's not enough. Increasing rear travel will improve offroad capability more than any other mod, at speed and while crawling. Most guys do their build backward and spend a ton of coin up front with a stock rear. You should talk to Mike, he is the king of mid travel bolt on rear sua. Let me put it this way, there has been lots of miles put on where I really thought I was getting some (full lt) when I would glance in my rearview and see mikes lights piercing through the dust right on my tail.     I have the 4 leaf tsb pack with a 1.5" aal and some 5100 shock. I don't know the travel on it. I looked it up by model number once, but couldn't find it yesterday and since I don't have the truck on me I don't have the model number either. DSM offers 2 5100's, regular for 0-1" lift and extended travel for 3-4" of lift. IIRC mine were rated for 1-2.5" of lift.

    That SUA kit is interesting. I would think there would be more advantage to SOA for offroading and travel, but I guess with custom leafs, you could just have them made taller to overcome the height difference in the placement. Hmm... Now I am tempted. haha:D Got any good close up pics of his SUA kit. I'm just wondering what the install looks like and such. I am just wondering how much welding will need to be done, like with welding the leaf mount surface on to the axle housing and such

    I am curious about something you said a few days ago. It was regarding setting up gears in Toyota diffs. You mentioned just a few places/individuals that you recommend. The only name I recognized was Chase at ECGS.

    Is the toyota diff more difficult to setup than say a jeep diff? Is there anyone local (western washington) that can do as good a job as ecgs?

    I believe Brant told me something similiar about the diff setup as well, unless i am mixing it up with what username said, but i believe he said he would only trust a handful of guys to setup a ring gear and pinion correctly on a taco and he definitely plans on doing it through ECGS like I am. We were going to purchase them together, but he has a :ballchain: too. Haha;)
