    Does it matter? Either you drive to Moab and from CO or you drive to CO and from Moab. Same commute distance either way.

    Probably in a car or small truck. I find i have to get high revs to get it into 3rd without straining the engine. I just usually shift at 2000-2500 but when i had bigger tires it was more like 2500-3k. I think bogging down the engine uses more gas than revving it high.
