    If I have full MT, I don't see myself not using it;) but it probably won't be something I will do whole lot. haha. Jumping can't be good on the truck no matter how setup for it you are and I would sure hate to have a tire fly off while driving down the road;) haha:D I do like the idea of mobbing through the desert or something though:D

    Wow, what a sweet looking truck. I have been wondering what mine might look like with the flares removed.

    Is that some random pic you found or are those the actual wheels that you have?

    I think that is part of the confusion. In this case, backspacing has nothing to do with whether or not they will fit. The interference is on the hub side of the caliper. For lack of a better term, there is a vein, a raised area on the wheel face of the 1st gen calipers that some aftermarket wheels will hit. A 1/4 wheel spacer will fix the problem but I refuse to run such a spacer.

    Edit: I was just thinking about my diffs and I have a question. So when my last one was put in, I was told there was a 500 mile break-in period, where you shouldn't hotrod it, 4wd drive it, or abuse the truck basically. I assume it will be the same way with the new diffs, but my question is how do you break in the front diff? The tacoma's have A.D.D right? So the diff doesn't move unless you are in 4wd, and somewhere I read it was pretty much a bad idea to drive on the pavement in 4wd. I don't even think I put 500 miles on the front diff in our week in Moab. haha. Any ideas? or should I just not worry too much about the front end break in?

    straight lines and in shallow corners. your diff will not explode from driving around normally around town. Hell the front binds when im driving in the snow at the ski hill. The break in period for the front is pretty hard to do, so just drive around in 4wd when ever just to get it worked in but i wouldn't sweat it. not like you are taking a new diff right to moab:rolleyes:

    Yep that is kind of what I was thinking. I was thinking maybe put it in 4wd when i am on the freeway since my trips are all damn near straight-aways anyway.

    The add only disconnects the passenger side axle, the ring and carrier still turn. Power is not applied to the front driveline, but it still spins due to drag on the bearings in the t-case. Point is, break in happens to the front diff even in 2hi. The key to diff break in is realizing there is more friction and more heat for the first 500 miles, so don't overheat the oil and it will be fine. The first 250 miles of break in on my 4.88's was in the dirt (Barstow to Vegas) but I took lots of breaks and let them cool and changed oil when I got home. Don't go driving around on asphalt in 4hi, just go find a dirt road if it bothers you that much. Did the dealer have you do all that craziness when you bought the truck? No, and those were also new gears.

    Well I didn't buy the truck new, nor have I ever bought a new vehicle, so I don't know what they do and don't tell you there. haha. I knew the heat think, one of the things about the break in was to never drive for more than an hour continuously without stopping to let the diff cool.

    I did not know that about the ADD. The article I read on ADD a few days ago was written prior to 2005 and seemed to imply that both axles were disconnected, or may have flat out said they were. Thanks for the info.

    I sent a message to Mike at defined engineering asking him a whole barrage of questions about mid-travel. haha

    Speed Racer, haha. I rarely do 75 in the Taco. I usually do 55 or 65 in it actually, depends on how long I have to get to where I am going.

    I would never recommend driving in 4hi on dry pavement. On an older vehicle, one with a 100K, things have loosened up a bit and you can probably get away with is for a short distance under the circumstances you described but don't do it on purpose on new gears.

    Yea that truck was on TTORA. He has as write up on how to Tub the firewall to fit those epic 35s.

    He has since sold the truck tho.

    Been stormy as usually for us this time of year. Very green as well through out the state. at least for the next couple weeks..lol
