Idaho BS thread in the PNW

The soundproofing project has begun. Overkill of course, but I'm not spending another summer in a spam can with no interior.

 

I haven't done it so I can't say for sure but I've read that is it simpler to lift the bed off and work on the exposed pump. Supposedly, dropping the fuel tank adds a few complexities. That is why I asked Ian what he did.

 

dynamat? I have some cheap knock off stuff in the trunk of my car. The subs made the metal rattle too much.

 

Granted it's not a toyota, but my dad has had to put 2 fuel pumps in his GMC Sierra and they always drop the tank.

Not sure what all is involved in dropping it, but on my taco it is held in my pins, so it can't be that had to drop it.

 

2 packs of Rammat Bxt-2 and 6 yds of ensolite. Also ordered some Kevlar to wrap the cage with (it gets hot and burns you in the sun) and 20yds of carbon Kevlar to make a dash and some other, umm, projectile absorbing stuff out of. The goal is a quiet interior with level II ballistic protection. We'll see how it turns out...

 

My supra had an access point in the back for the pump. But we dropped the tank anyways

I didn't remove the bed but yes it would have made it alot easier. Good thing I'm pretty small cause I barely fit under there. Never buy a non oem fuel pump. Im not sure how much the oem pump is but I paid $140 for an aftermarket pump. I can't remember the brand but it sucked. Almost all made of plastic and the electrical connectors didn't match. So I had to splice new wires and connectors.

This was my view for 3 hours...

 

My old corrola too. Just pull out the rear seat and pull out the pump. So easy. Taco... Not so much

Thats seems out of my league for now. Ill just stick to dropping the tank or maybe ill try taking the bed off next time.. if there is a next time

 

Wow. Can't imagine doing it that way without a hydraulic lift.

 

I would have used a lift but it was occupied. I had a floor mat, 2 floor jacks and thats it.

I'm working on it. I'm going back to stock in 2 weeks. then the truck is going on my buddies lot. I'll be driving the exploder till it sells.
